Back in the freezer. I cut up the chubbs while still frozen because they are very easy to deal with in that state. No smell, no mess! Remember the product from greentripe.com is already course ground, so it's not like what those who are getting fresh are having to wrestle with!!!!!

Well it has to thaw somewhere and I would think it would be your frig so does it smell up the frig at all. When you wash the tupperware does the plastic retain the order? Not that you would ever use that tupperware for anything else .
Thanks for all the help I will be giving it a try but I think I may just stick with the 1lb size which I can split between my 2 girls and there will be no tupperware .

Okay I am going to try to say this again but maybe less confusing than my first try
:
1. While still frozen I cut the tripe chubbs into meal size portions with a very sharp and heavy butcher knife.
2. Put them all in a large tupperware container and toss them all back into my dogs freezer. I only use these tupperward containers for the tripe because that's what I bought them specifically for.
3. At night before I go to bed I take one frozen meal portion out of the freezer, stick it in a small plastic container with a tight lid and then put it in my refrigerator.
4. In the morning I take it out of the fridge and feed it to the dog.
5. Put the rinsed out plastic container into the dishwasher. I have a few of these containers, they are ones I save that other stuff originally came in like dip or cheese or butter or what not. Also sometimes when I track I will feed my dog his tripe breakfast as a jackpot at the end of my track, and these little containers are easy to use for that.
Using this method I have no mess, and no stink.
BUT do whatever works best for you and your dogs. It's all good and so very good for them!

Wrestle with....... That is the perfect way to describe dealing with a whole cow's worth of fresh tripe........... Did I mention I love my dogs? Have to keep reminding myself of that while I wrestle with the tripe! Hahahahahahaha
BTW, I do grind some of the courser muscle sections of tripe and package into fist full size portions. I keep these frozen and take with to mix with water for summer time training. Now THAT will get a dog to drink enough water on a warm day at dog club. Beats the heck out of some of the other supplements I see people use to get their dogs to drink.

I buy 40 pounds at a time in one pound chubbs. I use the excalibur product which has bone, organ and muscle meat in it.
I put the frozen chubb in a plastic bag and sit it in a stainless bowl on the top shelf in the refrigerator. It defrosts in a day or so. It does not stink up the refrigerator. This is the same process I use for frozen chicken quarters and backs..
Pharaoh eats a whole one pound chubb with gusto in quick time and maybe a chicken back. He is a big boy and very athletic and not fat at all.
I do not take it out of the plastic chubb wrapping until it is in the sink and in his bowl. I rinse off the chubb wrapping and put it in the garbage.
No fuss, no muss, no stink. Pharaoh is a very happy boy.

I know this is a silly question but having my dogs constantly in my face (in an affectionate way) will their breath smell of tripe after the meal? I once took a friend's dog for a walk who has dried tripe chews as treats and I never smelt anything so foul with its heavy breathing in my car as I drop him off. So I have been reluctant to feed my dogs tripe although I know they are full of goodness.

Right after they finish there can be a bit of tripe breath. I never notice it after about 30 minutes though. Just me and my dogs. others may vary.

Pharaoh's breath does not smell after eating defrosted excalibur from greentripe.com .
It may be different for dried or canned. I have never used them.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words ..... the top shelf of my refrigerator-frozen, inside bag, in stainless bowl

chicken backs, quarters and green trip chubb.....reuse every plastic bag that comes into the house....

Defrosted chubb put in stainless feeding bowl and placed in empty sink to cut off wrapping (rinse-garbage)

today's meal, 1 pound chubb of excalibur and a chicken back

Yummy. a meal only a dog could love, um um um.....

Pharaoh eats out of the bowl?????? You're so lucky. The first thing mine do is drag the food out onto the ground.

What a classy dog; he leaves it in the bowl. I love that; mine also take it to the ground, that is why they eat in their crates; then outside they go. I feed my Tyler outside on the grass. Good for the environment. Have good days everyone. Thx. Nan
