Hi, Hodie,

Thanks for your comments.  Yes, we keep Bear lean.  In fact, the vet had us really trim him down to a little too lean prior to both surgeries to lessen the weight on his legs as much as possible.  Given his almost total lack of movement/exercise during recovery, we also fed him very little.  Once we got healthy x-rays post surgery, we started slowly increasing his food as his activity level increased.  He's getting close to normal weight now (~12 weeks after the second surgery), but we try very hard to keep him lean and healthy.

Our vet doesn't seem concerned about the toe-dragging at this point, so I figure we'll give it another month or two before exploring other possibilities.

 UPDATE-
I want to thank everyone for their support.  This had been a hard two weeks...all for not!  How the f@ck do you mistake pano for a blown ACL?  If you know, maybe you should contact the quack of a vet I HAD been using.  Sorry, I usually just sit back and watch all the silly posts people put on here bitching about one person or the other, now it's my turn.  I am so happy and relieved...I save several thousand dollars and my boy is fine, but the stress I have been going through has been horrible.  Again, thank you for your support, but no surgery.  Thank you also to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital.
