I'm glad you mentioned the C hips, Präger. I was looking at the picture of Treu and thinking that he was using his front to compensate for a problem in his hindquarters. You can see it if you look closely. I've seen dogs with bad hips that had limited muscling in the rear and overbuilt in the front. Also you can see where the distribution of weight is.

But, Präger brings up an excellent point.. We should be a lot more concerned with what a dog produces than what he is. How many dogs have I seen which had very good hips but could not produce them? Sadly, many..

I had two brothers out of Don Rolandsteich who (I believe) had Arko Gräfental on the mothers side. I have to check on this.  I can see them in my mind's eye and recognized the similarity to Treu, right away. These two dogs of mine were also excellent hip producers. They also were very brave dogs with outstanding civil / defense / handler protection instincts.. but clear headed and very intelligent.

I am not afraid to admit to anything.  I have never said that any dog produces perfect dogs all the time. Also allot depends on the female itself and on the combination with the female. Mambo is one of the best producing dogs ever and we should be so lucky that all GS dogs would do for the breed what Mambo does.
Germans are loosing their grip on the export marked with German shepherds because they produce mostly sport dogs to the point that not even most German police departments buys GSDs in Germany, but they rather go to Czech, Holland, Belgium etc or are using Malinois. That is thanks to "superior"  German breeding practices. So who produces "slugs" (using your term) in Germany? Then people  like "Schaferhunden"
are taking jealous pot shots and often use ridiculous lies about  Czech dogs, Jiri and so on and calling them "sales man". And who are you Schafferhunden? What have you done for the GSD. Why don't you show us how many hundreds of exceptional dogs have you created.  Check my avatar that is typical Mambo's  son Quint Hronovsky pramen.
  And as you can see he can kick ass too. Here is Quint at 12 mo doing frontal armpit bite. Mambo was also selected for refreshing of Slovak police lines. I guess they did not care about rare white spots or did not find them too objectionable. Do not take me wrong if there are dogs with white spots then they should be eliminated from the breeding line especially if there are so many other outstanding dogs in the same line.

Besides,who cares about the white marks?There are many more important things to care about - character,workability,hips, elbows,overall health,and so on.

I am sorry that I have lost it above.   I am trying to inform people here honestly about a dog and I get someone call me a "sales man" and dogs we produce "slugs" . It just chops my hide. Sometimes I feel that I should not waste my time here.

Mambo is a beautiful dog, just like I envision a male should look like. Nice angulation, top line, front! Great pigment as well! If his temperament matches that, he is a total dog!
Amazing that people can become worried about white spots and feet and seemingly forget the total dog!
Don't get upset over careless remarks, it is not worth it!

As much as I don't care for white on a dog....I would over look something so minor as that for a dog from Mambo or has him in his lines that has the balls he does when it comes to working. Good hips/elbows and built like a brick....yea rather have that any day.
Hans you are valued on here by many.Don't let someone that can't even fathom the quality of the dogs you and Jiri have.I have seen your dogs first hand and know of the quality of excellence. You are one of the few breeders I trust and know tell it like it is and don't feed people a line of crap like SO many others I know do. SO please keep educating the people that appreciate it and the others that don't...well they aren't worth it and wouldn't know a good dog if it bit them in the ass.jmo

You are not wasting your time as you are educating the newer generation about great dogs like Mambo.  If it was not for people like you, my generation would not have an appreciation for the breed and eventually the breed would no longer exists.

The information you shared with me explains to me more while my bitch is the way she is.  I realize that Treu is only line-breed to the dam of my pup 5-5 but my girl resembles some of the traits you say that Treu had.  Here is some video let me know what you think.

To the person who mentioned Don Rolandstiech . I had a few pups from him He was not know in DDR AS a working dog but a show dog. He was one of the top hip producers of all time 98.9 % of pups in DDR from him had a hips. He was a huge dog a nice dog. He produces well when bred with the correct femqles with good defense and fight drive.  DO
