runnernc....your concerns about the vendors and the venue are valid.....I was responding to the slight of hand concerning JA and the rest of the EB being responsible for the bad training...if that was the issue. As far as the weather....this is an outdoor sport. I've seen dogs doing obedience in a torrential downpour:-) Hope the next trial is better..and yes I'm preparing a young dog to trial!

by Bob McKown on 16 March 2010 - 15:03

You have to conceder the source of the Comments about Lyle and Johannes It  was Phil again running his mouth, I,m wondering when was the last time Phil ever trailed a dog??? or even worked one??? But i,m sure with his reaction to the original post no matter what went bad with his training or trialling it was always someone else's fault!. Typical

And old saying that fits well with working with animlas "some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you"  You have to take it all in stride and try harder(and train more) for the next time.

Bob I agree.  Does that mean the next time I trial and it rains or a deer crosses my track and my dog has problems I can blame Lyle and the organization or if my dog does not out after the long bite I can blame Johannes and the organization?

What a bunch of pansies!!!

 Brad and Bob,

I agree with you.  This round of "excuses" is simply worse and more banal than usual.   Whatever happened to "there was a bitch in heat down the block" and  " a cow farted upwind of the track" or, "the judge was harder on me than  other competitors--it's all political"?

What is comes down to, per usual, is poor sportsmanship.  Period.  And, YES, I am training a nasty little bitch for trial now.  Frankly, I am NOT looking forward to the lesson in humility she is undoubtedly preparing for me.  I simply hope to take it  as another learning experience ...and with a sense of humor.

Thankfully, NONE of the competitors in this regional championship had to make a qualifying score there--the requirement is for participation.  The entrants could fail every phase and still make it to the nationals, if they earn a qualifying score at a club trial between now and sometime in October.  That's six months, folks.   My best wishes to all the competitors!!

I try and keep the personal comments to a minimum there Robert.  The last time I trialed was in French Ring in 2007 where I was Vice NARA Cup Winner and Vice National Champion at FRII.  That year I was also the Regional (Central Zone Selectif) Champion and put up the highest FRII score in America for '07, 292.30 on a strange field after driving to Boston under a French judge.  (I wasn't driving to Boston under a French judge but thanks for asking).  I have been efforting finding a helper locally that is qualified to work with my breed.  While doing so, I missed a couple of opportunities on young prospects.  I am also mostly interested in having my next dog come from my breeding and as of today, I believe I have one.  I have recently found a helper that I am happy with and have begun a consistent program.  With my retired HOT SchHIII, IPOIII guy, I competed at the USCA HOT Tournament in 2004 placing 3rd (2nd place tie), the MidEast Regional (35 SchHIII's) 97 A, 97 C (tied for High Protection), 2005 AWDF National Championship 95 B, and the 2005 FMBB IPOIII World Championship in Aue, Germany.  Lately, I have been coaching clients in all 3 phases, mostly A and B and secondary work in C.  I have taken several clients from "just passing" performances to HIT A, B and C.

I don't recall seeing you at the meeting last fall in Davenport?  So with an uneducated opinion of what went on at that meeting and the way the EB treated long standing "members in good standing", maybe you should keep quiet about the lack of respect I have for the current board and the direction USCA has taken.  It appears that my views on USCA have some support.

And as another side note, until you reach the amount of ability and success that Eric Eisenberg has had and will have, take some advise and shut your club level pie hole.

As for my comments on the SouthEast Regional, my big mouth was commenting on the trial record and the initial information provided.  If the weather was inclement, I will concede the fact that scores will be somewhat lower.  But going by the information provided by a couple of people that attended, it seems there was more to it.  Why so defensive of USCA when you weren't there either?  Is Lyle buying your lunch?

Phil:

Rather long winded aren't you ? And you have a wonderful record with your Mali,s (if i,m not mistaken of the breed) But that doesn't stop you from coming across or being a arrogant asshole that you are!. And no I wasn,t at the meeting last year but the rep from the club I was at was there and voted against the JA amendment. And if you want to stroke the dick of Eric be my guest possible that is your thing. And what level a person trials at or aspires to has nothing to do with there character. Oh and if you would like I,ll be at several large trials this year at any time you feel froggy little frog you just hop up and shut my pie  hole at your convenience.

But like your estimed buddy Eric you also are probably a coward.

And I would,nt know Lyle if he walked up and slapped me with a fish.

USA needs to cut some dead wood and I hope this JA ammendment does just that, I dont agree with it or how it was implemented but it has had some positive effects as there are some whinners that have gone and it is about time.

Hey Bob,

If you're going to insult people, at least try to use your spell check....
Or better yet.... act like an adult and debate the post and not the poster.

I apologize if my poor spelling offends, Dear, some times you have to call a spade a spade.

Proofed by spell check.

I do have a few faults here and there, being painfully honest and spelling not being among them.  But most assuredly, being cowardly does not apply here.  And yes, I do go to big events involving Shepherds, why?  Because I am a "dog" guy, not just a Malinois guy, not just a SchH guy, not just a French Ring guy but a "dog" guy.  I went to Davenport to attend the meeting and to spectate and support friends who were trialing (spelled tr-IA-ling not tr-AI-ling).  I went to the USCA Sieger Show last year to support clients whose dogs were entered and I can't lie, to laugh at the "performance" phase of the "Working Males/Females".  I rode the scooter to Florence Kentucky to watch the WUSV.  I drove to Gadsden Alabama twice to spectate and support friends who were trialing.  I've driven to Bowling Green KY several times to train and support friends trialing.  I've driven to Atlanta, GA numerous times to train and to attend the seminar given by Helmut Raiser.  All German Shepherd events,,,,,,why?  Because I am a dog guy and I feel that my friends and clients are deserving of my support and encouragement.

And YES, I will be at events this year, USCA events??????  Probably not.  Love to be able to compete at the USCA multi-breed events the way they used to be but alas, those are days gone by.  So it's off to DVG and AWDF where they accept lovable losers like me.

Phil:

Great talent you may have, but that doesn't afford anyone great arrogance. I,ve known people who have excelled to the tops of there venues (i,m not talking dogs) and are the greatest folks to be around and deal with and you would not know them from Adam.

I guess it,s all in how you see your self in the world. I do appoligize if I did offend you with my rant. Till better days find us.
