My children are grown and gone but my grandchildren visit. I have a small, oval, washable mat under his bowls. I will take this up and make sure the kitchen floor is clean when they're coming to visit. If I was living with small children, I'd probably feed in the crate or laundry room, as stated above.

Scrap removal business, huh? My dog willgladly "remove" all the scraps anyone has for free!
It's really not all that complicated to feed raw, folks. I don't understand what are some people worried about.
My dog's favore are whole chickens, or chicken quarters. And yes, he licks it a few times, then it'sgone in 30 seconds.
Remember their jaws and intestines and anzymes in the stomach, and acids etc... their whole system is different than ours.
They crunch those bones like you do pretzels or potato chips.
Canned mackarel is the foulest smelling fish ever, but he loves that too. He is an equalopportunity eater.
I always shake my head when I hear about a GSD that is "picky eater".I mean, PROPERLY and sufficiently exercied and healthy dog.
Although I do have andkeep a bag of kibble called Solid GOLD, nothing compares to turkey necks, beef ribs, whole chickens, chicken drumsticks, tuna in the can, venison etc... I don't get all that processing food thing. This is how it's processed here: You take it out of the bag and toss it to the dog. Then...
He'll do all the processing for you, trust me.
