Keith,
You are correct and many people do not realize that grapes, onions and chocolate are potnetially toxic to dogs. I have also read that eating the stomach contents first is a myth.

Well, I thought I was done but I guess I should answer a couple of questions...
The studies of raw diets that I've seen addressed whether or not they meet dogs' nutritional needs and they did not fare well.
Before dog food was commercially available, dogs ate what we eat...cooked food.
There is no vast conspiracy by dog food manufacturers to shorten the lives of dogs; they benefit when dogs live longer.
What kind of a stake was it, snajper; a garden stake or maybe a tent stake? Either way, yes, you should stop eating them.

Hi,
I being feed all my three GSD with raw diets
In the morning- 1 quarter leg chicken( each dog).
In the afternoon- I mix 1 cup Oat meal ( cook in 1or 2 minute) 1 big spoon Vegetable juice (V 8),1 big spoon yogurt (homemade) , 1 yolk egg ( not white part) and add 2 soft gel fish oil,2 soft gel galic oil ( or raw galic) .
Because i have 3 dogs,so i have to add triple for all that.
After ,they finish.I give to them 1 more quarter leg chicken.(each dog).
But sometime i feed them raw beef instead for chiken and add some fish(in can)They are loved fish too.
Also,
Depend on how my dog look ,i will feed them more or less meats( or diet suppliments).
Thank you for sharring,
Hope everybody have a nice day!

How fat I recently got from eating them I think I will take your advise ;).
That's because raw feeding is balance over time not in every single meet, I am surre that it was done with the help of someone that never feed raw ;) Raw feeders are stricket about balance over time, so we switch around. We don't feed just one kind of food. ;) now can you link me to some of those studies, I would love to see what they claim it lacked ;). Biggest problem for me with comercial food is :
- decision at times are cost vs benefit (I know I am accountant I know how it works too weel)
- food is overcooked therefore will loose a lot of nutrition value that the origianl product had
- quality controll is poor
I agree with you that is not a big plan to shorten the life of the dogs, but the dog is not the priority but profit for those companies ;) Food over time did improve though, and I do agree with that. We see more quality kibble out there than ever before, but once again not many of these forumual are based on actual research more on new trends (high protein) ;0) so this is my biggest issue that decision are made based on the bottom line rather than based on the dogs true needs. As well I don't think dog food manufucturers are ready to ship raw meet ;) I am surre this would made a hole in their buttom line ;)

lets call it a truce and go 50x50 raw and kibble - lol. I'm new to this and I've been doing 50% raw and 50% kibble. My pup is doing extremely well with it. Also, I give her marrow bones from the local butcher. I will say to a new person there's alot of info out there and it can be very confusing.

by snajper69 on 08 December 2009 - 19:12
Turk I am a person that is either one way or the other ;) no 50x50 for me ;) this is due to the fact that it takes dog longer to digest kibble than to digest raw ;) I hope you don't feed 50x50 at the same time but in different meals if no you have to be carful ;) raw meet staying in the gut for too long can create bacteria issue ;)
