I would have to say the  DOWN   first   then   COME.

Just recently a man (That LOVED his dog dearly) had got a pup from me .......walked out to his truck and had his dog right by his side and before he could open the door, the dog saw something that caught her eye, and ran across the street after it........

She got hit by a car..........she is gone............she was beautiful........and full of life...........she was only 3 years old...

He said he trained her himself, and they didn't go to classes.

So, this time around, I asked him if I was to give him a discount on another pup, could he please put it towards training in a real training program, not for titles, but please, at least for COME-STAY-LEAVE-IT, good ones to know.

Here's a picture of her, gone but NOT forgotten...........

I'm sad...............(Boy.....this post brought up memories)....

Happyday,

Sorry for the gloom & doom post after yours, that's very much what I would love my dog to do!!!

Check out this pic of -------well it's the sire of the girl above & my girls Tessie & Dana, I must say for dogs that are not related to yours, they sure do look alike!

This is Xander Von Hena-C ......What do you think??
He is going for his ScH 2  this weekend, wish him luck!
(Love your avitar!)
She's gonna get better pics for me, this was taken with my camera that has a big crack on the top.......(not too bad)..

He's one cool dude...............

Heel and stay. In addition to asking a dog to heel with me, I can call them to heel if need be. And stay, which my dogs respond to whether they are sitting, downing, or standing. Basically, move and don't move. Don't need a leave it or even a no because heel will supercede it, so will stay.

This all depends on what type of enviroment you are in.  The first two that come to my mind is come and stay.  I cannot work with or take a dog any where if they do not know these two.

i gotta go with jim on platz and out.  whether training for dogsports, companion or security, social environment or at home, the dog can be controlled with these two commands.  control is key and especially so in an emergency situation.

My first is Platz,  for the safety of the dog and others. no matter the situation I want my dogs to stop whatever they are doing and go down until I release them. To be honest, it's for their safety more than anything. No need for stay, as they know not to move from that position until released after danger is gone or they are focused on me not whatever it may be that got there attention. This is to try and prevent things from happening that mirasmom mentioned above.

second would be pass auff to put dog on alert.

These two commands imho help provide the dogs safety and mine or families.

"No"? I just found this the most useless command ever ;) just because "No" gets throw around way too much, this is why I use Leave it, it has the same results but with not being as much thrown around in every day life. ;) just my 2 cents ;)
