I know a very famous trainer who lived in his car WITH his dog for a short time!  Anyone else know who I am talking about?

Hans,

I recently started the:

Green Country Working Dog Assistance League
Located in Claremore Oklahoma

I will take working dogs who are in TRUE need of a home!  This was spurred on by the post about Amanda Canyon and Adrie, 2 fine working bitches who were titled, imported to the USA and produced nice puppies, for sport and  then fell into a extremely sad state of health because they were aging and neglected!  They didn't deserve what they got in return for the loyalty and love they possesed in their souls!

I am working on a website that I hope to have up and functional in a few days.  Let me know if I can ever be of assistance.

Bob McKown: Maybe you should read better what I am saying before you write disconnected remarks.FYI: In about 30 years here in USA I have found about  8 dogs  which I have sold,  who were abused or not taken proper care of; that is out of thousands of dogs I have bred and sold or sold when I was working in other kennels after I have screened the buyers. And I or in one case someone else took care of the dogs in question. You think that I should stop breeding dogs for that? Maybe in a perfect world alkl dogs which breeder sells go to perfect homes.  I am talking mainly about calls I am getting from owners of dogs who did not buy them from me.

I am hoping the breeders are getting the word, things are changing, and they need to slow down on availbale pups. My kids both state they will take the dogs, they know the money (what is left) follows the dogs.

keepthefaith:  Yes that is an interesting question. How much would you spend on a vet. Once I was boarding 11 years old GSD which I have sold to a good client of mine many years before. They were unreachable in overseas vacation and dog got bloat. I rushed him to emergency in the late evening and the bill was $3500 up front or PTS for much less. I payed $3500, because that is what I would do for my dog even so the success rate for to survive the surgery was only 15%-20%. Dog lived ,thanks God. It would not be fun to explain to my client that their dog is dead and that they owe me $3500 on top of it. Client was elated that the dog lived and about my choice to pay.

That is one of the many reasons I could never be a breeder of dogs. I'd worry all the time about the fate of the pups. I raised horses at one time and quickly found out  that I was not cut out for it. I wanted to keep them all- no one was good enough to sell them to! Thank goodness they only have one at a time:)!  I am constantly sickened over what people do to their dogs and the lame excuses they use to surrender them to rescue groups or worse yet, dump them at animal control or leave them tied up in the back yard to starve to death when they move. Grrrrrr!

Prager:

You brag on something I find amuzing "I sold thousaands of dog" that is part of the solution to the question you first started the thread with.

Bob, what is your problem? Every time you respond to me ,you are taking pot shots on me.  I sold all the dogs, except 8 of them, to people who are good to their dogs. I sell high quality dogs to police, S&R, victims of violent crimes, handicapped people, military, security companies for hospitals, dogs for blind academies, SchH people, battered women,  and private families and so on who get handler's course with each dog I sell. So what is your problem with that?

As long as you base your decision on what is best for the dog I don't think there's any right or wrong anywhere here.
You do what you have to do.

Prager:

If you think these are "pot shots" you really need a thicker skin.

Hans, no matter what you say, someone will "twist it around" and start with the snarky comments.   But being the gentleman you are, you typically don't respond in kind.....but, sometimes I wish you would ........
