She looks pretty calm and made herself right at home.
That's great.
Just curious, what's that white mark between her eyes?

P.S.  she's a beauty!

by SitasMom on 20 September 2009 - 03:09

the mark is from a tick bite.......it may or may not darken.........

she follows me everwhere and even though we do not speak the same language, we seem to be able to communicate well.

her tummy is already showing that she has some puppies in the oven.............she is going to be triple wide before its all over.

Liesje- my thoughts exactly!

Sitasmom, just don't underestimate "mommy mode" and keep them 100% segregated when those puppies hit the ground! Good luck and have fun.

I completely understand mommy mode and 2 weeks before they hit the ground they will be 100% segerated, and they will stay that way until they are weened.

She is a gorgeous girl, Congrats on getting home safe and sound!!! Can't wait to see those puppies too :-)

Just to be on the cautious side I would get her tested after that tick bite. I know someone that bought a dog from Germany and it ended up with Lymes disease after a tick bite. Not saying Hanny has it, but it doesn't hurt to be aware of it.

Tick bite?  I'd be a little sceptical of that story they told you, SM.  Odd place for one.  JMHO.

I'm glad she's settling in well for you.  Good luck!

Nice job Sita's mom.  I have three GSDs that live very happily together all the time.  It can be done.  So many don't give it a chance.  Bitch fights are the worst for sure and there are some that definatley can not live harmoniously together but there are plenty that can. Good luck with Hanny and her pups!

That is true, Lyn, but what people are saying about taking it easy is valid.  Someone I know personally did exactly that and thought all was well.  And all was well.  For a while.  But she took the girls' good behavior for granted, raved about how seamlessly everything went, and ended up with one of the bitches badly ripped up.  "But they'd been getting along great!" she couldn't understand it.

My advice is    Never put Hanny anywhere at all with the dogs already there.....she is pregnant ..her mind may clicke one day and she get upset and one growl at another bitch or even a male will result in a disaster.

I do not care how well she acts....her mind and her care is more important than mixing her up ..she needs to bond with YOU  and forget making friends with the others  ,,YOur boys and hubby yes...no dogs...right now.....she is in a world of new things and today and tomorrow   yes...new territory     .....she is biding her time...she is smart.....she is holdig it in...but   I can tell you from years of doing this......NOT A GOOD IDEA >>>>>>>one turn of your back and it is all over....

Keep her alone and just let them meet her thru the cage ....and if any growls come    be ready to clamp the one that growled with stern correction.....

And if you  think a pet gate can stop her or one of them from coming in the room......You need a gate that is locked to the wall on both sides....not a grip kind....

Hanny standing still for a photo, she really does not like her picture taken.

We played fetch for a while, she just loves it. We also went for a few walks.

She has plenty of energy and has a very upbeat attitude, and is very trusting.

She is 74.3 pounds and is eating like a horse.
