Tears well in my eyes to read what you have written about a legend.

Oh my goodness, how sad to think he ended his days in such a place. What is the matter with people! This is the sort of thing you read about all the time on a Rescue Board, but you don't expect to see it happening to a dog that was so well known.......... shame on his owner. (But thanks for the pics Shelley, he is 5 generations back in our girls' pedigree - on her mother's side.)

Fortunately, most dogs are very well taken cared of and loved in Germany, famous or not. Maineiche Kennel is a doggie paradise, ditto for Arolser Holz! Most of the ones I visited were actually very small, but very nice, dogs looked great, got lots of attention, thoug not many lived in the house till they got older, retired. Jago Lindenhalle looked awesome in his golden years, fed meat Dieter butchered fresh for him, kennel right by the kitchen window, excersized a couple times a day. His coat was gorgeous!
None of the dogs I saw or got shipped from Hubert Feurstrake were in very good shape (dirty, not as described by any stretch of the imagination) I gave the last one away. It wasn't worth the crate it came in.
Things I learned the hard way...
