I got the deal of the century on him. I'm actually selling the car to build my barn, not just buy him. I never thought I'd be able to afford a Friesian. I am going to keep him a stud until I can't anymore, then probably collect him and then geld him. The breeder told me that even though Teade is an approved stallion (most of the ones breeding aren't actually approved), Chief will never make approved stallion. He is too heavy boned; the FPS wants that more modern type, which I don't like. I want a more substantial older style Friesian. I will probably collect him just in case I want something out of him in the future. If he doesn't cause any problems as a stud though, I won't geld him. Leave well enough alone. He won't be here for a few mos., since I have nowhere to put him yet. I'm moving so I can bring my horses home.

Its strange how time changes your priorities, first there were my horses, then came the cars, soon followed by GIRLS!!.
Then back to the cars after the new wore off the ladies, and now I'm back to wanting a horse.
Full circle ya might say.

In another thread, you said, "We are indeed overprotective. I wouldn't allow a dog to do things like this every day, but why oh why are we breeding such breakable dogs??? If people didn't act like everything would break their GSDs, perhaps we wouldn't tolerate such weakness and in turn breed stronger dogs. Just a thought."
I agree 100% with you and not just in dogs. I watched this happen with horses, too. People keep them alone in stalls from weanling on up and they become fragile, unable to cope as a horse in a herd. It is a sad phenomenon.
I surmise that is why, I too, prefer the horses with a bit more bone and substance to them.
Maybe before you geld your boy (if you indeed ever need to and you may not), I'd be interested in a breeding for one of my quarter horses. If another "deal of the century" occurs, let me know.
To Two Moons,
I would certainly take you up on the offer if I was a LOT younger and not married. Now I do have a couple of daughters....
I do understand what you mean about the full circle of life. It is interesting what life experience, hormones, then lack of them can do to one's desires in life.

The lad is very helpful when its his idea, if its something important to me things usually go a little differently.
I would be coming out ahead I'm afraid...LOL
He would be glad to go anywere from here, restless and looking to find his own way in the world. Theres not much here to offer.
I'm really partial to Appaloosa's. Grew up with Quarter horses and Tennessee Walkers, a couple of mixed pleasure horses and a couple of mean ass wild ponies..
As much as I kid around my son would have his own ideas about a trade..
He just wants a good job, something challenging with a future, and a good woman, plus the cars and cloths and guns and party fun. Typical young man.
He'd get all pissy if he knew I was talking about him like this...LOL
Still for a horse.......:)
