Ole Roy??? ANy breeder feeding that I would run the other way...this pup had a bad beginning ,,YOu are in for a ride..don't keep changing it and I would keep diet very simple..Orijen might be way too rich as this pup had actually what I consider a bag of sticks ,with some grass and dirt and a little corn put into its tummy...The chemicals and nasty in Ole Roy probably have this pup in one irritated bowl syndrome..Keep moist food and keep it simple...Cut the kibble back and add the meat, and rice and feed three times a day and small amounts.. do not add anything until the stools firm up...I hope vet is giving you Panacur for now and Albon could be the other..Later you will need to get some probiotics in this pup..but not now...

No milk no vitamins right now...just meat and rice and little kibble..small amounts...no treats nothing but water and it should not be chlorine in it..nor well water that is not filtered three times...Use bottle water that has been Filtered not spring water... read labels..make sure no dyes no preservatives in dog foods...sometime Orijen or some of the high price foods are too rich and you have to use alternatives..but not anything Science diet or walmart makes..!!!!!!! or Pedigree either..

Why i say a meat allergy is this, If the Pup was the runt of the litter, and it has had stool problems since you had it and is not improving, then what  it says to me is, that it has been eating food at the breeders before you had the Pup but the said food is doing the Pup no good it is just surviving on it, a Hypo allergenic food does not contain meat proteins
My Pup coming on 20 months old has it and lives a normal heatlthy life,
Take no notice of these words but do explain to your Vet the Pup has been like this since you had it, ask her or him if a hypo food would be worth trying
I can tell you this without fear of it not working
If you feed the Hypo food for only one week if it is a meat allergy then you will see the stools start to come a little firmer in two weeks the pup will have good stools,
If it is NOT a meat Allergy then within that time the stools will remain as they are, you only need one week of feeding this food to know two weeks your pup will have near normal stools after that he will be fine

Callistos, or

This is a pic of my little girl taken last night.  Still waiting for the vet to call back on a few of the tests (bloodwork).  Her stools are still chocolate pudding, but she was very playful last night (hence the squeaky ball) and when I was rubbing her sides I noticed her ribs didn't protrude through the skin quite as much.  Yay!  I feel a little better, lets just hope to poopoes stop soon.

As for the worming meds, it is a liquid, and it is once a day, I'll get the name and let you know.  After the first visit they had her on a pill every 12 hours that I believe was a probiotic, but she's not on that anymore.

I had a person that got a pup from me complain that her pup had runny stools and had that pup tested for
everything, problem was, she changed the pups diet 5 times in the 5 weeks she had the pup!
Lucky for the pup I had the lady return her back for a full refund, and rehomed the pup with a nice newlywed couple,
the pup is healthy and always was from day one.
The pup was tested for everything you just mentioned, but do you think the person and the vet could have even though
about giving the pup it's next set of booster shots----Noooooooooooo
If you keep looking for something wrong, sometimes you may find something wrong, also while investing a nice chunk
of money to the vet, the pup I got back was on prednisone and some other anti-diarrhea drug and Hill's prescription diet,
I threw all that crap away, and just feed her a quality dog food for a few days, just be patient, stop giving your pup drugs it
doesn't need, GSD's have sensitive stomach's, and please........................don't forget to update the vaccines!!!!

You should always introduce new food gradually into a pups diet, and don't change or substute one food for another,
it's a puppy, not a human child, and also, GSD's are what I like to call a wash & wear breed, feed them well and keep
their vaccines up tp date

I am waiting for her to be ready for her second shots.  I was told 3-4 weeks after her first set, which was March 17th (not sure why the breeder waited so long, but at least it was done).  So hopefully next week she can get them done.  I am concerned because I heard somewhere not to give your puppy shots if the have diarrhea...can anyone else confirm or deny that?

I did change her off the breeder food slowly, and as for the chicken and rice I was just doing what the vet said and did read it elsewhere as well.  She is back on just her puppy food (Orijen) and at least she hasn't vomited (which she did a few times with the rice).

If the breeder was feeding Ol'Roy, a very good chance that the pups did not get dewormed or get shots.

Good Luck, cute pup!!
Orijen LBP is a great food for her, give her some time.

Are you in the USA?

I'm in Canada.

So far the vests haven't found any parasites.  I just called and they said Parvo results should be in today but the pancreatic one could take a few days.

*sigh*

There was a little sticker on her puppy records with from the vaccine (my cats get them too) could that be fake?  Maybe I should call the vet to make sure?  Would they give me that information?

The vet just called.  Pancreatic came back as normal and even though the Parvo test is not back yet she does not believe she has that either.  She doe say she needs B12 shots for the next 8 weeks (once a week) and then every 2 weeks for another 8 weeks.  I really hope this helps!  She is going in for her first shot tonight.  I am also asking if we can get her second set of vaccines done next week (it will have been 3 weeks since the breeder one).

Years ago I had a problem like this with a small puppy, initial tets came back negative but in the end we discovered a unicellular organisim ( I think it was Isospora if I remember correctly?), the vet said it is normal for this to be present but it can take over and multiply when the pup is under stress, eg change of environment). Once we knew the problem we resolved it very quickly with medication and he was fine after that. re food - last year I had a puppy who became very sick (probably a virus) at about 3 months, she was in the clinic several times and could not seem to digest anything (I posted in detail about this at the time). In the end we tried her with Royal Canin Starter food (meant for weaning puppies) and we never looked back after that, she digested it no problem and gained weight quickly. Good luck with your little puppy, she does not look too sick in the photo...I would not vaccinate until she is totally recovered though.

I am an advocate of vaccines, but in this case, I agree with OSO and I would try not to vaccinate until you are certain the pup is on the mend. The vitamin B12 shots are a good idea. Ask the vet if you can give them yourself if you feel comfortable doing so. They are given just under the skin and it is not a big deal. That will save you some money. This should also help the dogs' appetite. The dog does not have parvo or it would be very, very ill. But I am still willing to be that it does or did have a parasite and that has been the trouble all along. Parasites cause vomiting, lack of appetite, loose stool and weight loss.

As for EPI, it would be highly unlikely in a pup so young.
