Years ago I used to bring my dogs to a dog park with about a hundred off-leash canines. I stopped going entirely when a friend and his dog was mauled by a pit bull that was "as sweet as could be" and had "never done that before". His dog got tore up pretty bad and my friend lost a chunk of his calf muscle. I'll never go again. If I want my dogs to run I'll bring them out on the mountain bike trails. The difficult terrain keeps away most of the riff-raff.

Animal control makes twice daily stops at our dog park - Once in the morning to pick up any dogs dumped by their "owners" overnight, then again in the evening for the daytime dumps.

The worst idea ever invented and any knowlegable dog person should agree.

Disease and dog fights are what they are good for.
