Mystere

by Mystere on 27 March 2009 - 18:03

I have a male that is Fero-free.  He comes to training barking in the car, as soon as the car clears the gate, and barked ALL through OB in training and trials.  The ONE time he was quiet was during the trial for his sch 3.  It was so strange that it was almost unnerving.  Even spectators were disturbed to see/hear him NOT barking the whole time on the field.  It was the one and only time on a field that he was quiet.

In contrast, my bitch line-bred on Timmy is NOT a constant barker on the field, OR in the car.  Of the three sch dogs I have had, she is, while still a vocal dog when she wants something, the one I would call ''quiet."

All my screamers go to Harro Lechrainstadt at least once.

Anybody know what happened with Vello??? Did he die young or something? Exported?
SS

Shelly, despite Vello being listed as KKl1 in the database, he was never koer'd because he was oversized. That's probably why he did not have as many progeny as some other great sires.

Just look at what he DID produce, though!  That's one reason I've heard a lot of old-timers say we shouldn't be too quick to throw a dog out of the gene pool because it's oversized.

Where are you finding listings of Vello progeny please?

Shelly, hope we're talking about the same Vello!

Vello zu den Sieben Faulen:

If you look below his picture, you will see he has 74 progeny registered on the database. Click on that link and it will list the progeny for you.

I can tell you one thing for sure: that list will be in no way complete. But I'm sure the fact he failed to koer kept some breeders from using him as a stud.

This has been a most productive, intelligent thread.  Thanks to everyone!

It was/is well known that Timmy had great work ethic although produced smaller dogs .....  this was the major issue ....

No. Vello bosen Nachtbarschaft, full brother to Troll and Timmy, also BSP in the top 10.

Oops!

I had a feeling it was a more recent Vello, so I checked the pedigree carefully before posting that!

Ah well, the sire of Bodo and Bernd deserves a mention now and then...

Shelley, Wasn't Timmy/Troll's mother supposed to be a bit on the small side, (if not more) herself?
