GARD, you should come work a fire in the hot humid summer with full gear. LOL My son would beg me to act like his friends mom's instead of a FF/Medic. If you aren't unconscious, bleeding to death, or missing body parts, man up and go out and play. I work my dogs hard but I watch them like a hawk, shorter durations and a good place to cool off inbetween times. My club worked in all weather as does my K9 trainer.

Some dogs handle heat better than others and all my dogs handle it better than I do. Pallo couldn't handle heat/humidity at all, but his daughter handles it better. T is more like Uncle Pallo, Bijou barely notices it, Onyx never noticed, but he was raised in the Sacramento Valley where 110 isn't unusual in July. When the insides of their ears start turning too pink, we stop and either swim or hose down with cool water, put 'em up in the A/C, the cool basement or in the kennel where the floor is cool and the big fans circulate the air very efficiently. Not being much of a morning person, I usually do my road-work in the cool evenings, never in the afternoon heat. You really have to know your dog, know his/her condition, and be very aware of the signs approaching overheating. They can go down very quickly! I too use frozen water bottles in crates and trailer, fans on high, in the shade if at all possible.

Some days in summer all we do is go to the river or the pond for a nice swim. Great for fun and conditioning.
I wish I had a pool!

One of my favorite pictures of Pallo, the sumer before he left us.
