I have really enjoyed the Nikon series.  A friend had a D80 and then went  a step above that.  This pic again is with a D70

I shoot a lot of stop action dog pictures, and I got the Cannon 450D ( Rebel XSI) and a tamron zoom lense with fixed shutter. Great combo!!! I will post  some of my pictures, but the 450D is a great camera at a great price. If you have to chosse between upgrading camera or lense, put your money in the lense.

Bob, I just bought a Nikon D 60 and I am really happy with it.  It has some great features with it such as setting it for a particular speed and the apature is automatically set.  Conversely, you can set the apature and the speed is automatically set.  Then you can set it for manual and adjust both the speed and apature.  Another feature is the ability to take four pictures per second.  You can get a whole series of fictures.  Very good for analyzing dog movement.  I thiink each time one goes up a series such as D 70 or up to D 80 there are more features some of which one may never or at best seldom use.  However, if your wallet will let you (or your wife-which ever) if you can get the D 90 with the vidio feature, ...that is nice, that is really nice.  Now if I could only learn how to put pictures on this database...... ecs

Bob,

It's called Promaster.  The lens that was originally with it bit the dust last  year so this is an up grade with better zoom.
