4pack,
It is a good thread.  I love these topics as they cause me to think about what is sufficiant force today, why these dogs were bred etc.  Since ppd's are dogs that will bite, it seems logical to consider how hard of a bite does each dog have.  Personally, I will go for the hard biters if all other factors are equal.

I might be wrong, but it was my understanding that Rotts were phased out of LE work because of the liability factor.  Simply too much potential for serious damage.

Interesting thread, great pictures of the skulls for comparisons.  Does anybody have pictures of the same breeds showing the muscle mass on the head and jaws?  Granted conditioning would also be a factor.

How much of the judge's scores do you think is a function of their perception of bite strength?

And how accurate is that perception?

I have often wondered if some dogs are just not strong enough to hold on during the swing.
