I'm interested in anything about tracking. I feel like this is my definite weakness.
I track when I have time, which might be at two in the afternoon on my way home from doing protection work. It doesn't seem to make a difference to my dog.

Strengths-
  • Love tracking.. Have had some success in that phase. Probably because its slow and relaxing for me, more time to think about what the dog and I are doing than in B & C.
  • Enjoy sharing my enthusiasm & experience with novice handlers and puppies.
  • Can still move with a good degree of animation in B and C, work quite a few dogs in a row as long as the humidity isn't stifling.
  • Good understanding of temperament and drives.
  • Appreciate/welcome constructive criticism, as well as dolling out same.
  • Supportive and sportsmanlike.
  • Good sense of humor.
Weaknesses-
  • Don't do my best early in the morning. (read: wake me up, with coffee, when everybody is present, bait cut, and my dogs are loaded up in the trailer)
  • Late for nearly everything. (ADD)
  • Not the quickest learner, not the best listener, resistant to change in training/handling techniques. (Old habits die hard)
  • Can be clumsy, lazy and inaccurate overall.. in just about everything.
  • Do not tolerate being yelled at well, especially unfairly, on the training field and off. (read: shut down, cry easily, MAY BITE)
  • Tend to be too easy with my dogs.
  • Don't enjoy teaching the formal retreive with some dogs.
  • Still throw up due to trial nerves on occasion.
  • Hate cold, windy, foul weather, have 100 excuses for staying indoors in winter. (Read- "The dogs need a day off"... ;-)
My club and people who know me might have a lot more, and different things to add to this list. LOL
