I've been on my own a few times when bitches have been fighting (they're nastier than males). What I do is grab the agressor by the hind legs, tip her over on her back and just drag the 2 dogs through the nearest gate and close the gate as much as I can until there is a slackening off, then I shut the gate fully. Never been bitten and not much damage to the dogs. Works every time, easier with 2 people though, of course.

Thanks! Considering I have 3 intact bitches right now, that' a big concern. They are mom & sisters, but I don't know if that would moderate any aggressive responces or not. At least they are not territorial, they only get jealous of who's closest to me or my husband, when every one is out together. And that's usually the wrastling kind of scuffle, tails wagging, Carl & I in charge. When Carl is home, there's never any worry about dominence, etc., he's a very natural & dominant Alpha male, LOL! However, when I'm home alone is what I'm concerned about.... but we are soon to be spaying all but 1 of the females.....no more puppies, at least until we're in a bigger place, & better situated. Maybe never. jackie harris

One of the strangest things that I've ever had happen to me was I had 3 of my dogs out together...2 adult females and 1 male...I had just returned from training with them...and had taken them all out of my trailer and was getting ready to put them in their kennel...Anyway...The 2 females began a fight...I'm not sure over what...Not sure there was anything in particular...but I began to yell at them and then my male comes running over and starts to get into the mix with them...So I began to yell at him...and then I figured out that he was actually trying to break up the fight...At that point he did break up the 2 girls and had them separated...then they began to go back at it again...and once again the male got in between them and broke them up...I've never seen anything like this...I still can't believe what he did...
