It only happens in the winter? It sounds like RUDOLPH SYNDROME to me.
(J/K, I made that up! LOL)

Be very careful of overdosing on Oil Bound Vitamins like A and D which is abundant in Cod Liver Oil
The Body cannot reject any access from the body naturally and it will canse Toxic icty in the system
Water soluble vitamins the body can get rid naturallyof but not Oil vitamins
The Old saying is a little of anything does you good, too much of anything does you harm
Well in most things?

As a few of you know I brought back a four month old puppy from Germany at the end of October this last year. He is of deep black and red pigmentation. Within 2 weeks of being here in Canada his nostrils started to fade from black to pink. He was fed only in stainless or metals bowls there and here. It progressively got lighter and lighter. He is on a premium dogfood. Almost one month ago I started to add to his diet Vit C (250mg) , VitB100 ( each capsules contains 100mg of the b complex and also choline and biotin) and one tab of cod liver only (only 50mg) You need to be careful with adding oils that are high in Vit A. I believe that there is a small change for the better.
Here it is prior to starting him on the supplements. I'll try to get a recent photo now to show the difference.

Yes, Chicki! that is very similar to my female! She is on Vit C and Vit E, and fish oil......I haven't tried VitB; why is that good? I could certainly throw in some Biotin.....
It certainly seems that it is related to less sunshine in the sky! I think my nose would turn pink too, if I had a black nose.

Sharon, I wish I could remember where I found the article , but there was a article by a D.V.M. stating that one of the components needed to stop the pigment from fading during the winter was Vit B100 She also said that although it happens 95% of the time during the winter months that it can happen at other times of the year as well. She was giving the Vit C, Vit B100 and kelp to rectify it. I believe kelp is high in choline. Hope this helps.

well, the batteries are dead so I can't send a picture right now, but her nose looks very much like the dog picture in chiki's post up above. and ordinarily her nose is shiny black.
