It dose not sound like the breeder did anything wrong, you did not give him a down payment on a dog, and neither he promissed you that he will hold it for you. Every time you don't put money down there is a chance that the dog won't be avaliable any longer, nothing wrong with that. You took a chance, this time it ended up that you lost the dog get used to it, it will happen, the only time you can guarantee a dog waiting for you there is when you will put some $ on the dog. I think if you will think it through you would do the same, dissapointint want to be a client is better than loosing a client that is ready to buy at the giving time, you would understand if you would know how hard is to place a dog now. Uli did say that he though you were not intrested any more so I don't think there was any harm intented. Things like that happen.

Yup, Sportsfan is Sportsfan, same old Dan wasting people's time, not knowing what he wants or what he will do. He is the same guy from the past. People who were aware of what went on then, and there is probably a lot more not even recorded here, may well not want to sell if they are serious breeders. On the other hand, there are plenty out there who see green and will make him a great deal....assuming he can make up his own mind. Someone that has to keep asking here about which is the better pup is sending a message for those able to receive it.

Isn"t this Dan in the US? And Ulli is in Germany? So, what, he was just gonna drop by sometime? I think I will send this trhead to friends who are breeders, so they can be forewarned.

Hello to all,
as I am very concerned about my reputation on this board, not to satisfy the know-it- all, I do extremly care about the opinion of some members on this board have about me. My foremost goal is to have 1-2 litters of quality Pups, whatever that may mean to you. My policy always was & and always will be " first come, first served "
To clear up things a little, this is how my contact with Dan occured: He inquired about a male & female he is looking for, for his sons. He was imidaetly told that there will be out of the Dux X Anka litter only be a male avaible. He was fine with that and told me that he would get back with me. That was around 12-15. On 12 - 27 he inquired about Eiko, and that he would be very much interested in him, well Eiko was sold to a family on 12-26 ! Oh well ! Never ever was there a request for a certain male out of this breeding, if he would have told me there & then on 12 - 15 that he will take Eiko, Eiko would have been off the market, so to speak.
Well, to top it all off, I did a little research myself, WWW is an amazing thing ! Dan, please do not contact me again about a Pup, hell will freeze over before I will sell a Pup to you.
Enough said, I am a reasonable man with principles.

With all due respect LarryDee, do you really believe in what you write ?

I have been following this thread with much interest, and ULLI in my opinion you have done absolutely nothing wrong. You did what anyone with a litter of pups for sale would have done, there was no deposit, no firm yes on a pup, only an inquiry on a pup. I would have, and have done the exact same thing. I actually think it is shocking you have felt the need to come on here to defend yourself and reputation!!!! Liz

Hodie,
Are you telling me that this "quest" has been going on for THREE years!!???

by Oskar1 on 29 December 2008 - 18:12
Thank you Liz,
acually, I never thought that it would be nessecery to do so. But the way the post was written by Dan, it seemed to me that he was shooting in my direction, and that is when I get a little tense.
If it would not have been for this thread, I would have probably not searched the Web for some aditional info, now I am glad that I did.
Regards Ulli

That's a good rule in today’s economy, first come first serve; put your money where the mouth is so to speak. I agree with you Ulli it’s hard today as it is to place a pup, why not taking a chance when you have to place a dog in a good home, to someone that is willing to commit right away.
Buyers need to understand that it's not as easy as some of you think to place a dog in a good home; you need to take a chance if you have a good client on your hand, its best for the dog and for the new owner. My brother in law wanted a GSD recently, he liked what I had so he asked me if I can speak with the breeder and find out when is his next planed breeding, since he been wanting a dog for 2 years I though he was serious about it, I talked with the breeder find out everything that he need to know, but my gut feeling was that he might not know w hat he is getting him self into. Well so it happened that I need to help a friend to move over the weekend so I asked him to take care of my dog. Weekend came to an end I picked up my pup they both seem fine, went home and talked with my sis after few days, well that's when I found out that he changed his mind (that it was too much for him) but they didn't even bother to let me know so I can tell my breeder friend that they are not interested any more. After that I am not surprise that breeder dose not hold till he has a deposit down. Just something to think about it. There is more window shoppers out there than actual shoppers. :)

I agree completey SchHBabe, and I love the Holiday Inn Express joke!
I also agree with Baldursmom. I notice that many breeders list upcoming breedings on their websites. How difficult is it to find and research a breeder, research the dogs listed in the upcoming breeding and reserve a puppy. Seems fairly simple to me.
