Jeff Turner,
Iams has got to be the worst kind of dog food that you can ever feed to any animals. Why would you work for this kind of company? Why would you feed your dogs their terrible food?

According to Dogfoodalysis website almost all of the Iams product (thats on the site) are ranked as 1 Star Dry Dog Food

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/showcat.php/cat/all/page/2/si/iams

Can you tell us this (Including listing the ingredients) about this new stuff? Why would you treat your dogs like lab rats just to provide feedback to the company with their beta foods? How much do they pay you for treating your dogs like guinea pigs? I guess Iams are short on the basset hounds huh?

PEAS???  Hmmmm.... Guess we shall see.

I feed my 7.5 yr. old Canidae Platinum. He does well on it.  I had serious stool consistency and volume issues with the rest of the products, so willl be interested to see if the new "improvements" really do make a significant difference in those areas. I also so had coat issues (dry, dull, dander)  Adding supplements just made stool issues worse, so I changed foods for awhile (RC GSD formula fixed everything) but costs will cause me to reconsider Canidae.

I'll be interested to see other people's reports on the new Candiae.  I HATE testing dogfoods!

How can there be an improvement in Canidae if Diamond pet foods manufactures it?

Any reports from anyone that is trying the new "Grain Free Canidae"????  I had to switch from the ALS formula when they changed it.  I now have the girls on TOW Bison/Venison and it's doing fine, but just curious about the new grain free Canidae.............

I had mine on the grain free salmon formula for a few months, saw no difference from the ALS Chicken and rice.  I have also had good luck with Blue Buffalo's formulas.  I have since swithed to them due to avaiablility and, now the same price (about $47 for a 30 lb bag)

I've been feeding Canidae ALS for about 2 years. I have 4 (very active) working line German Shepherds and am totally pleased with how they are doing.

I origionally started feeding it to my 4 year old male that I felt I was having to feed too large a volume of another food to maintain his weigh. Because of the higher calorie count in the Canidae, I was able to significantly decrease the volume he was eating.  I was pleased with the results so switched everyone to it and they are all doing well. My dogs ages range from 16 months and up to 8 years old.

When switching to the new formula, I mixed the two (old & new) as I would any food, and changed gradually. I had NO problems what so ever with loose stool or anything else. I actually think the volume of stool is less with the new formula but was fine with the old also.

I did recently switch one of my young females to the Canidae L&R so that I could have a lower protein for her. I just did that recently, so not sure of my results yet.

As far as Canidae's affiliation with Diamond and their history of recalls, believe me, I will watch closely but also remember there are recalls in everything including the food we eat. Not meaning that it is acceptable but unfortunately I believe it a sign of the times with the evnironment, cutting corners to make a bigger buck, and lacking quality control. I think the potential is there for a problem with any product (including home made diet since recalls are in human food also).

The price of Canidae has gone up but so have all the other pet foods. I will pay as much as I needed to provide my dogs a quality diet but I won't pay more than I have to for the "flavor of the month". If at any time I see a problem with the Canidae I will switch to something else (but not sure what I would go to next).

Happy New Year !

My two cents worth.

I have been feeding Canidae for over 5 yrs now, coats always have been shiny and no allergy problems. My vet always comments on the excellent shape my dogs are in, including coats.  I DO add raw chicken livers and yogurt to the food.

The change.....well I am not impressed to change a good thing, however, it is a minute adjustment if the chart is still up on their site to compare the new to the old.

Unfortunately, it was on the shelf one day and the old gone, so there was no time here to adjust slowly..had some loose stool at first, not sure if it's the peas or sweet potato......

Did a lot of research, and was ready to switch to Orijen, however, I am not comfortable with that high protein level...especially not for puppies that aren't supposed to grow fast in this breed.

I really don't think that this Diamond thing will affect the quality as I am sure Canidae wants to live up to it's previous good reputation.

Some dogs do better than others on any food.

I have been feeding 8 GSD's of all ages, activity levels, immune systems, and metabolic levels and have had no issue feeding Canidae ALS. I also feed it to all the Rescue GSD's that come here and of course they are forced into a quick food change and we have no issues (they are usually being fed crap prior to arrival so it is generally an upgrade).

All my dogs survived the change in formula and their stools are the same and all dogs are still healthy, two of which are now 13 & 14 yrs of age.

Just my experience,

Tina
