I hope the real owners, not the "rescue" group, has a very good lawyer. Two Moons suggestion is sounding good.

I agree with Sam1427. If the dog was stolen, I would think the situation is a little different from a dog that is lost, and hopefully the owner can get the dog and puppies back. I also agree with Two Moons.
Some of these rescue groups are practically militant in their attitudes. Just now on the news they were showing an animal rights group picketing a pet shop. They were screaming and yelling at some woman who was leaving, asking her where she got her dog from, etc.. The spokeswoman was saying something to the effect that nobody should buy a dog until every shelter is empty, she was saying if people want purebreds well then 20% of the shelter dogs are purebred, "just like my Bichon" which she held up for the camera........and It was a really ugly poor quality giant sized Bichon. Supposedly the shop was being picketed for selling dogs from puppymills, but the spokeswoman seemed to have her panties in a twist over anyone being so awful as to buy a purebred dog.
