Why doesn't a "decent, reputable breeder" invite her to see how their operation is run vs that of the puppy mills so she has something positive to show the world of puppy buyers??????

Back in February I was driving through downtown Chicago and saw a huge billboard that read: "OPRAH Please do a show on puppy mills! The dogs need you!" and I thought it was a great idea. I hope she focuses on pet store puppies, it's an industry that truly disgusts me. Maybe some of the loaded, gold coast housewives will watch it and think twice about that cute little $2500 malti-poo down at Petland. I'll watch it for sure.

John Yates and the American Sporting Dog Alliance and any other breeder that is more concerned over losing the sale of a couple puppies than the atrocities committed by Puppy Mils can kiss my ass and should be ashamed of themselves. Every single one of us that loves dogs should thank Oprah and Lisa Ling for shining a light and showing the world what these miserable excuses for human beings are doing to dogs.

Oprah's show was VERY well done. How heart wrenching to see the horrific states of the poor animals in shelters and puppy mills alike. For the folks who didn't get to watch, the message: don't buy from pet shops -99% of the dogs are from puppy mills, "What good breeder would sell to a pet store", adopt from a shelter or breed rescue group, if you do buy from a breeder, visit, meet the dogs and the people.
Not sure what the big scare was from John Yates? Maybe just the inference that Oprah was considering support of PETA? There was no mention of PETA, but Main Line, the rescue group they did feature has an excellent adoption rate as compared with PETA who has such a high euthanasia rate.

Dont Worry folks, her money goes to Afghanisthan and will be monitored by Farrahkham and then she will be serving in the whitehouse on a royal throne that gullable women in the USA send her to...
I use to like her but she did a turn around....the video that was posted above is only one of many that prove who she is....just because you are a billionaire doesnt make you right or make you what our Forefathers wanted in our Country....
Billionaires come and fall,,,kingdoms come and go and fall ,too... She is self made and she thinks that is how the world is run and she gives no one but herself the credit...watch the video...Stedman left her and she now has gained back 145 lbs of the weight she lost to look good and she is miserable...wonder why?.

Sue-Ann, I agree. I thought it was kinda boring as compared to other things I have seen, I guess it is because it was for the average joe. Yes, they got through the point that 99% of pups sold in stores are from these type sof puppy mills, they did say people should look into rescueing a dog, purebred or mix first, but if they still want to buy a puppy, go to a reputable breeder and see the parents or at LEAST the mother. I agree with all thouse things 110%. In no way did they bash breeders who were responsible, they did not mention PETA or anything to that effect. Boring, but I think the point got acrossed, especially when they were at the Ft Worth AC and they showed the 40 something dogs that get euthed every day at their shelter get rolled out in a bin and fork lifted and dumped like trash into the dumpster to be brough to the landfill. For those of you who don't know, there are a LOT of purebred dogs in shelters and are part of those stats. For some reason people have the perception that shelter dogs are all mixed breeds and they did a good job getting the fact that at least 1/3 of all shelter dogs euthanized each day are purebred's.

i only got to watch a teeny bit of it. what i saw seemed to be pretty fair. they did seem to point out that their problem is NOT with good breeders, but with puppy mills and they didn't tar everyone with the same brush. well, i've watched enough oprah for the next 5-10 years....

Oprahs show was wonderful, and hopefully it will make a difference. She has a huge audience, and maybe because of this show people will stop buying dogs from pet stores.
Yellow, I feel sorry for you. What a tacky thing to say.
