Yeah, Blitzen, I think he almost looks like a bloodhound!

Hi Anand,
I do believe that a head which is too big will "disturb" the overall appearance of a dog. Everything needs to be in proportion, including the head. I also noticed that during the development and growth of a young male form puppyhood on, the head goes through strages as well. Strong and almost overdone puppy heads will fit into the overall picture, once the dog is grown. Heads can develop until the dog is about three years old. The only thing I believe in is that a puppy male with a "bitchy" head will not have the strongest head as an adult.

Zidane has a "rottie head" as you guys so loving call it and trust me does not affect his movement. The larger head and short muzzle gives him a lot of power and he is unique in his appearance.
Zidane is KK2 and you are right beauty is in the beholder the dog above with the so called correct head compared to the rest of the dogs posted is what I would consider ugly in comparison sure glad we dont all see things alike.

I don't see it. To me, neither Zidane or Eagle have "rottie" heads. I agree with Blitzens description of what I think of when I see a GSD with a "rottie" head. This is not meant to insult rottie people, I would consider a rottie with a head like a GSD to be unatractive too.

I like the bigger broader heads, as long as the dog is balanced structurally.

Pirol's scores during his days on this earth were always in the high _90's and I dont have all of them by any means ...maybe someone can link where his scores are but in 1996 uSA QUALIFIER 98 95 98 t=292
working ability never impeded by his size... He exceeded all expectations for all the years he was in trials....Big head and all....I would invite someone to post his scores and links to his K.....might help the poster to see how a bigger boy can certainly hold fair own in the world of many size working gsd's.
Other scores know are SchH3 99-91-98 , 98-94-97, 98-95-99 FH 99 just a few...Many other example can be posted by others holding similar great working scores with bigger heads and of course,,,proper balance..
Pirol was a KKL2 which can start a whole other thread...

Sunsilver, I think the dogs head in the link you provided is a good example.
