I suspect that there is a difference between the european formula and the american. I bought a small over priced bag when on vacation. We had run out of proplan, and were having trouble finding more. I ended up throwing the majority of it away. I put a lot more effort into finding the proplan. I found the proper panel on the bag and found out that the ingredients were corn for the first three. Amazingly the digestive issue ceased when we went back to the proplan. I would have to agree with steve1 on the european stuff.

I do not know what the Stuff contains over there but here it has beet filler the remains of sugar beet, just to bulk it up
and no; i am not misinformed, i have been feeding Dogs for over 50 years so i do know a little of what i am talking about
Plus look at the amount of Dry Kibble Dog foods called back in from your country, and this is one of them and more than once
As i said there is better about , more so if you want to disregard fillers, and a lot of unneccessary grains
The bag looks pretty, its what is inside i do not like, but each to there own

You are misinformed. I don't care how old you are. If you don't like it, don't feed it. What you get where you live may or may not be the same. The proof is in the pudding as far as I am concerned and I dare say I have fed this food to many, many more dogs than you, for a long, long time, and the dogs do well on it and for long periods of time. If you don't like it, fine. There are lots of things I would like to see taken off the shelf in your country or out of your restaurants....

By the tone of your writing it seems you are getting a bit shirty, meaning the point of being rude
Never sumise nothing when you do not know the facts, Better to say nothing if your blood pressure is going to go up for no reason, This is what i have said on another thread,
A person cannot post a letter even in a civilised way to some of you people ,
Words from you mean nothing , its only to be expected by the way you reply that you would know more about the subject than some one else from another country, Thank goodness most of your counrymen do not have the same thoughts or asprations as yourself
And what country are you refering too when you say you would like products taken off the shelf and from the restaurants
I guess you mean England ,because thats what i am an Englishman bred through the gernerations steming back to the Vikings
Say what you will the dog food as had as many recalls in the USA as much or more than most, and there is better on the market without any recalls at all,
And It seems to me you are not even aware of what goes in the make up of Dog food
Have a good day

So much for my "well, this is how I did it" diatribe. I today went into the Petsmart to purchase my weekly thirty-five-pound sack, and alas-none to be found. I looked at the six-pounders and mentally priced the contents-too much. So, I walked from the store with a large sack of Bil-Jac Select.
I inquired, and was informed that the store is receiving but one (1) sack of Maxi GSD-24 per week. I agree-the delivery of Royal Canin's blend must improve, and I will write them an e-letter.

I had an email from Royal Canin today and supposedly the food is in the distributor warehouses, or very soon will be. I hope so, as I only have a few bags left.
How are you doing Bob-O?
regards!

Hi Sharyn! Bob is fine-just boning up for a Calculus test. I thought I left this behind more than twenty-five (25) years ago. Gee; what could be more fun? I am being sarcastic of course. Maybe I should graph some elementary functions to see if the Royal Canin situation follows any other business of political (this year) trend and see is there is a relationship? Nah, I just closed the Big Book and am repairing for bed.
I just sent my comments to Royal Canin; described by personal findings and asked; "a" what is their proposed solution, and "b" what is their timetable of action? They have been punctual with replies in the past, so I will read what they have to say and later post it on this message board.
Regards,
Bob-O

26, March 2008-The reply recieved from Royal Canin:
Thank you for contacting Royal Canin, as every question or comment is important to us. In regards to your question the Maxi German Shepherd is in stock in our warehouse and available for stores to order. In regards to price increase, we had a price increase back in January due to the raw material prices went up as well as the price of gas. Unfortunately with these prices increasing it causes the production of the product to increase as well because it cost more to make the formulas. I would be happy to add you to our mailing list which will include coupons to help off set the cost of the product. If this is of interest, please respond with history to this email with your name, address and pet info. Also we have a consumer rewards program, you will want to save the UPC bar codes as well as the receipts once you collect 10 mail those in and you will receive a coupon for a free bag of the same size. If you need further assist please let us know.
Best regards,
Kate

I was today not able to purchase Royal Canin Maxi 24 GSD and was told by the store's manager that they (the store) were only recieving one (1) bag of the Royal Canin Maxi 24 GSD per week. I have used this blend for many years on my GSD breedline with good results.
The price of the Royal Canin food continues to climb and there is occassional scarcity of the food in the retail stores. I do understand after speaking with other GSD people that they are experiencing the same poor service and price acceleration by Royal Canin and/or its distributors. What are we breeders supposed to do?
Tonight I had to purchase a 40-pound sack of Bil-Jac Select to hold me until ea

I remembered reading this thread a couple days ago. I have been considering trying it with Spunky after all the good things I have read about it, so I checked to see if Petco had it yesterday. Nope. The guy that I talked to there did point out they had the Eukanuba German Shepherd. I said, "no, I really want the Royal Canin" and he claims they will have more in Monday. I got a coupon for a free bag of Royal Canin puppy food when I registered Spunky with the AKC and the Royal Canin large breed puppy bag we got was gulped down in obvious enjoyment. I would like to see how Spunky does on Royal Canin German Shepherd. Very interesting thread.

I am on the breeder pro line program and my rep told me about the availibility problem it has to do with a problem with inner lining part of the bags. They are working on getting the problem fixed or it may even be fixed now.
