Geez- I was complaining about paying $60.00/bag for Origen adult over here....it is good kibble,tho'......The PSP around here don't have it yet....wish they'd start carrying it, the gas for the 2 hour trip to go pick it up is killing me....not to mention finding the 2 hours to actually make the trip:-) jh

We feed Orijen to our pack, having switched from RC 24, and we're VERY impressed. They've been on it for about a year now. We have been in contact with the maufacturer at various times and have found them to be very responsive and informative, both the president of the company as well as their nutritionist.

It is expensive and can be a bit of a hassle to locate. We get it at Country Pet in Lebanon, NJ, about a 45 minute drive if there are no accidents on the freeway. Pet Supplies Plus does NOT carry it, I don't know where that information came from. JH, where do you get it? There's a new distributor up in Blairstown, NJ which is just a smidgen past Mt. Bethel. Maybe we should pool our purchases and save one of us a long drive?

I've contacted PSP homeoffice in Scranton a couple of times and asked them to stock it; they said they were happy with what they offer and would pass on Orijen for now. Bad decision, IMO. We pay $53.99 for the Senior and $57.99 for the adult. I am going to check out that link above which is an excellent deal if shipping is really free.

Someone mentioned Taste of the Wild. We were interested in that product when it first came out and contacted the company to learn more about the origins of their ingredients as well as where it was manufactured. Here is an excerpt from the e-mail I received:

" All of the Taste of the Wild products are manufactured by Diamond Pet
Foods, in Diamond's plants located in Meta, MO, Lathrop, CA, and
Columbia, SC.

Most of the ingredients in Taste of the Wild originate in the United
States. Some of the ingredients are not available within the United
States (Potato Protein originates in Germany, Lamb Meal originates in
New Zealand, Dried Chicory Root originates in Belgium).

I can not go into all of the details, but the ingredients and products
go through over 140 checks before the finished product leaves our
warehouses. These checks include in house and independent lab testing.

Diamond's facilities are regularly audited for food safety and
sanitation by an independent agency (Silliker Labs, Chicago, IL)."

Given Diamond's past history we decided to forego this product.

I drive to Country Pet, too. Lebanon is a 2 hour drive from where I live in the Poconos. Sure, I'm open to suggestions, I've been trying to find someone to take turns with, or whatever. I generally buy 3-4 bags at a time, that was lasting me a few months....now with the babies, all bets are off! Where do you live? jackie harris

Yes, Orijen is expensive, But i always say that you only gets out what you puts in

So i want my Dogs to stay healthy and work well in there Schutzhund training, so the food intake has to be good

In the long run a cheap and inferior Kibble is the most expensive one, and the dogs suffer on the way to finding that out

Steve
