I just bought a GSD about 2 weeks ago. She is displaying mucus from 1 nostril, after having her for barely 2 days, she did have discharge from her eyes when I bought her but the breeder said that is normal. I took her to the vet immediately and she has been on Clavamox and Chlorphen Mal for 10 days and it hasnt helped. The breeder wants me to return her but I am very attached and want to take her once more to the vet....now with the info I have gleaned from this website....any other suggestions?

What does the vet say is the cause? How old is this pup/dog? Are other dogs in the same kennel ill? Where have you taken the dog?If the dog has parvo or another virus it might be very ill. It could be a secondary bacterial infection however from some other cause. If the Clavamox has not helped, ask the vet for other ideas for a broad spectrum antibiotic. The other med is an allergy medication and probably won't help one bit. With a bacterial infection it is likely that you would have seen a great improvement in this time. So I don't think it is likely to be bacterial. Has any bloodwork been done? Is the dog eating well? Drinking? What kind of stools is it having?
And no, discharge from the eyes and nose is NOT normal and who the hell is the breeder? They have their head up someplace dark.

Greycee,
The best advice I can give you is to do what Hodie says......
Luckily Iso's cleared right up with the antibiotics and there haven't been any problems since. Hopefully your Vet can tell you more on Thursday. Don't be afraid to go to a different Vet also, some are definitely better than others.
I hope things work out and you end up keeping your pup.
