Sunsilver

I quoted this at the start of my father's funeral eulogy. It's on the soundtrack for Return of the King, the last movie in the Lord of the Rings trilogy Into the West sung by Annie Lennox, lyrics by Fran Walsh, music by Howard Shore Lay down Your sweet and weary head The night is falling You have come to journey's end Sleep now And dream of the ones who came before They are calling From across the distant shore Why do you weep? What are these tears upon your face? Soon you will see All of your fears will pass away Safe in my arms You're only sleeping What can you see On the horizon? Why do the white gulls call? Across the sea A pale moon rises The ships have come to carry you home And all will turn To silver glass A light on the water All Souls pass Hope fades Into the world of night Through shadows falling Out of memory and time Don't say We have come now to the end White shores are calling You and I will meet again And you'll be here in my arms Just sleeping What can you see On the horizon? Why do the white gulls call? Across the sea A pale moon rises The ships have come to carry you home And all will turn To silver glass A light on the water Grey ships pass Into the West

Long Trip Alone lyrics by Dierks Bentley This is the one I used for Trick's Memorial video It's a long trip alone over sand and stone That lie along the road that we all must travel down So maybe you could walk with me a while And maybe I could rest beneath your smile Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold 'Cause it's a long trip alone It's a short piece of time but just enough to find A little peace of mind under the sun somewhere So maybe you could walk with me a while And maybe I could rest beneath your smile You know we can't afford to let one moment pass us by 'Cause it's a short piece of time And I don't know where I'd be without you here 'Cause I'm not really me without you there Yea Yeah Hallelujah hallelujah oh So maybe you could walk with me a while Maybe I could rest beneath your smile Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold So maybe you could walk with me a while Maybe I could rest beneath your smile Maybe I could feel right beside you 'til I'm home 'Cause it's a long trip alone

All I can think of is OLD BLUE as recorded by Joan Baez: I had a dog and his name was Blue I had a dog and his name was Blue I had a dog and his name was Blue Betcha five dollars he's a good 'un too Here Blue, you good dog you Shouldered my gun and I tooted my horn Gonna find a possum in the new ground corn Old Blue barked and I went to see Cornered a possum up in a tree Old Blue died and he died so hard Shook the ground in my backyard Dug his grave with a silver spade Lowered him down with links of chain Every link I did call his name Here Blue, you good dog you Here Blue, I'm a-coming there too ************************************************************************************************* This is a traditional song recorded by many artists with several variations in the lyrics. The words themselves don't mean much; however, when I hear the rendition sung by Baez, it always brings a tear to my eye and memories of all the good dogs that I've lost.

I am not a Beatles fan, at all...but... The Long and Winding Road The long and winding road That leads to your door Will never disappear Ive seen that road before It always leads me here Lead me to you door The wild and windy night That the rain washed away Has left a pool of tears Crying for the day Why leave me standing here Let me know the way Many times Ive been alone And many times Ive cried Any way youll never know The many ways Ive tried But still they lead me back To the long winding road You left me standing here A long long time ago Dont leave me waiting here Lead me to your door But still they lead me back To the long winding road You left me standing here A long long time ago Dont leave me waiting here Lead me to your door Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Beatles lyrics

Journey - Remember Me Find myself all alone In darkness without you Now I can’t turn away From what I must do You know I’d give my life for you More than words can say I’ve shown you how to love someone I know you’ll find a way Say goodbye, close your eyes Remember me Walk away, the sun remains Remember me I’ll live on somewhere in your heart You must believe Remember me No way I can change my mind I don’t have the answersIf you could see through my eyes You’d let go of your fears And though I have to leave you now With the thought of each other I’ll miss your touch You call my name I am with you forever With the change, we can’t explain Remember me You know I’d give my life for you More than words can say I showed you how to love someone I know you’ll find a way Be there to watch over you Remember me Feel I’m gone My heart lives on Remember me Don’t you think of this as the end I’ll come into your dreams Remember me Close your eyes Say goodbye Remember me Say you will Close your eyes Remember me Say you will Say goodbye Remember me

Gordon Lightfoot - Message To The Wind Hold my hand, so I can hold you in my heart Hold my hand, so I can guide you through the forest of the nightBy the sea upon the raging tide A message to the wind I must begin to write of love and rain Touch my heart for it is beating just for you Hear my song, as I sing it to the lost and lonely ones If there were time to spend another day A message to the wind I would begin if he could blow my thoughts to you Hold my hand, now it is time for me to go Take my love and let it rest For we must meet again somehow When you’re alone and willows start to bend And rain begins to fall At times you will pretend and not pretend at all I’ll be with you again A message to the wind

17. Aaron Neville or Rodney Crowell - Please Remember Me When all our tears have reached the sea, a part of you will live in me, way down inside my heart. The days keep coming without fail, a new winds gonna find your sail, and that's where your journey starts, you'll find better love, strong as it ever was, deep as a river runs, warm as the morning sun. Please remember me. Just like the waves down by the shore, we're gonna keep on coming back for more, cause we don't ever wanna stop. Out in this brave new world you see, only the valleys and the peaks, I can see you on the top, you'll find better love, strong as it ever was, deep as a river runs, warm as the morning sun. Please remember me. Remember me when you're out walking, when snow falls high outside your door, late at night when you're not sleeping, and moonlight falls across your floor. When I can't hurt you anymore, you'll find better love, strong as it ever was, deep as a river runs, warm as the morning sun. Please remember me. Please remember me.

Pia: I first heard Remember Me this Way in the movie Casper. It just reminded me so much of Reno. There are so many good songs listed here. Bridge over Troubled Waters also sung by Clay Aiken is really good - although I love the original to. That song brings back wonderful memories of my father taking me and my 4 brothers to church on Sunday. Guitar mass (which they don't seem to have anymore) was more fun for us and they always sang this song. I cannot get through that song without crying. And Journey, brings back those High School days... Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, Cheryl
