I think your dog will go Good but could go Fair. I have one with very nice hips that went Fair. I had one graded for a replacement and was sure that it would not OFA (mild to mod) and it went good. I went ahead and spayed the dog and rehomed as she had bad hips.OFA is a crapshoot.

B.Andersen, that is the crux of my anxiety here - I have been reading these threads for months and see that you are very correct in your comment. I guess reading xrays being a crap shoot is par for life as well. I will definately post the results as soon as I get them. Thank you for your input.

After my own experiences with OFA, I no longer consider them to be the final say on hip conformation in any breed. If I were still breeding, I'd probably still use them, but would also submit my xrays to the radiology dept at the University of PA for their evaluation. If I belonged to the SV, I would also use them when the dog was 12 months old, but would probably rexray at 24 months.
If a dog can go from being OKA rated as moderately dyslastic one month to an OFA fair the next, there is no consistency in their evaluations. I'd also bet that the second xray would have received a good, not a fair, had this dog not already been rated as moderately dysplastic. I myself would never send off 2 xrays of the same dog at the same time.

Well no matter what you are doing the right thing by xraying your dog and sending them in ! Many people do not.Your dog has normal hips and if you do not agree with the grade you can always have your vet re submit as they are digital.

I have thought about also doing PennHip and looked into the USA program but don't have the dog tatto'ed yet. One step at a time, but PennHip is definately on the list.
I am trying to do right and want to be on the right path. Can be difficult as I have already encountered some really nasty people in the local clubs. I take my boy to Sch training and he is doing really well but the group has show dogs and they are very critical of my working line boy and spend wayyy too much time worrying about what we are doing, always assuming the worst when they don't even know me. Am looking forward to moving to TN soon and hoping that the folks in the clubs there are a bit more supportive to getting my dogs trained. I really just want to work my dogs and am a good sport and like to believe others should be too.
My husband and I both decided to stop training at this club because of the nastiness and hope to work with Ivan in the next few months and if he assesses him well we will leave him for in-house training. I am new at this and feel I can learn alot from an expert like Ivan, see how it's done right and then I will work with my female pup for training, I do enjoy the sport and look forward to meeting most of you eventually at an event.
