I forgot about Ace  being a Ufo son and I know his handler quite well  he imprinted my Zidane son Zimoot for me last month that is correct... I know Ufo had five last year what a super dog Ufo was and he did not start breeding for a few years after returning to Belgium from the first handler ...I want something from Ufo but it is hard to come by you are lucky to have this female he is one of my all time favorite dogs that is known for  true hardness  and courage...Marlene...

Kimbo v Karthago looks to be the man this year ( Maybe not in sheer numbers but in quality). Too bad he wasn't bred more. The Scandanavian breeders used him more than the Germans did, which is maybe understandable because Flensberg is on the Danish border. Last year one of his German bred sons was also by the WUSV for the German team after making the highest scores in protection at the BSP and he was trained by a 1st time handler/trainer lady. The handler/trainer for Satoris Saro was also Kimbo's handler/trainer. Congrates Wolfgang!!

Too many people tend to think of the female as some kind of "oven" that will produce clones of that wonderful stud dog. IMO a good female is worth twice as much as a good male. She may not have the most impact on the breed as far as numbers, but her contribution is way under-rated. How much would I have loved to own Dixi Haus Santiages?

It is true that the US didn't have anyone on the podium this year, but the past few years have had US competitors on the podium.  I don't think that because we didn't do as well this year as we would have liked to, that the US is going down the drain.  Do you think the Germans are sitting at home crying in their beer?  Probably not.  There are alot of competitors worldwide and alot of great teams.  To put someone on the podium every year would be one hell of an achievement.

Next year may be another story.  We may see some repeat competitors and hopefully with a little more experience and a homefield advantage, we will see a US team member up on the wood.  Who knows, maybe Ivan will be on the podium with his new GSD.

TO THE USA TEAM MEMBERS

Congratulations and good job!  See you in Cincinnatti!

I'd like to see Mike Diehl and Basco on the podium next year.

No disrespect intended to Bob or Shelly, but "everybody" uses that same cliché about studs being half the equasion, and the bitch equally important.  Personally, I've never encountered anyone who actually believes contrary.  Some believe the handler is the other half.  Half credit to training, half to good genetics, etc.  Anyone with "half" a brain should know ;-)

Then there's the cliché about "Every puppy is a gamble".  But any descent gambler should have a good understanding of the odds that are either in or out of their favor, and can play the cards they're dealt for the best possible hand.

Kudos to Marlene for not relying on Europe's throw-outs.  I hope we see more competitors looking for native prospects in the future.  Breeders and handlers and clubs relying on each other HERE is what can make the difference in American bloodlines eventually.

Why would the Germans be home crying into their beer? They were the best team with all five competitors among the first 15 placings!

I just found an "ooops" photo on the official website:

It was a joke.  People act like we should have a member on the podium every year.  I was pointing out that Germany didn't have anyone place and they are probably not making a big deal about it.  Read the next sentence after your inaccurate and incomplete statement of something I wrote.  You can't read three sentences and ask the author a question, when the answer lies in the next sentence.

I take that back.  I meant win, not place.

Don,

I did read your statement completely. And unless you write with "invisible" ink, I cannot find anywhere that you wrote the Germans won first place as the best team. Maybe, you are unaware that there is a team championship as well? So, not only did the Germans "place" well, they also "won".

I don't know why you have the need to be rude, but I suggest we leave it at that.

Chris
