Me either Louise!

I raised my girl on K-9 Cravings and as they say "You can't argue with results."She is gorgeous.  The only reason I stopped was lack of availability in my area.

Interesting side note .  I was in conversation with my vet yesterday who said that, while high protein food could exacerbate a liver problem, in his experience there were three main causes. Chemicals, genetics, and overheating!  I could have figured out the first two but had never thought of the overheating.  Something to keep in mind when working your dog on these hot summer days.

I think that the vet may have been referring to the overheating of the food during its processing. Most of the damage is done to the fats in the food--causing a release of free radicals.

No, we talked pretty extensively, definitely referring to overheating of the dog.

I guess I was posting too much in one post , I'll try this without quoting Louise's menu

Similar to what I feed though the kibble isn't grain free:

AM 1 cup Timberwolf Organics (TWO) Wilderness Elk 1/4 pound Columbia River Natural Raw ( http://www.columbiarivernaturalpetfoods.com/ ) protein type varies as well as if it includes veggies Salmon oil and ACV PM 1 1 Cup TWO 1/4 pound Columbia River Natural SynoviG3 (Grade I DJD in one Elbow) PM 2 This varies, but is not prepared raw but instead lamb necks, turkey necks, etc.  Once in a great while depending on what's up in the household this might be straight Kibble.

Though an adult, I'd found that Dante's GI tract just does better fed three times a day.  Though I have no proof, I'm guessing that an intestinal block when he was 9 months old and months of undiagonsed Giardia played havoc with his system.  When he's boarded he's only fed twice a day and does fine so I could probably move him to twice a day, but I'm now in a routine!

Thank you Louise for taking the time to share, I hope you don't mind but I've copied your posting to my computer for future reference!
