I Spent thousands of dollars on Magnum kennels !! In less than 2 years they were all rusting!! I will only have a short period of time before I am going to have to replace all of my kennels.. If Prefierts better, I would go with that, but I think my next go around will be the super heavy duty chainlink that is too small to allow their teeth through.
I bought Magnum because I was sick and tired of patching the chainlink all of the time. I had a pain in the ass female that could tear a hole in Chain link, like it was paper.
I would not recommend Magnum at all. It seems stupid to spend all that money to have welded steel to keep your powerful dogs in , nice and safe. But give it a year and they can walk through the rust to get out. !! : (
I am definately going to look into the mason kennels, but really Pissed off that I spent all of that MONEY !!

we use magnum kennels. they are still my first choice. priefert would be second choice. i willnot waste another nickel on anything that is chainlink. i guess my experience has been pretty much the same as everyone else. the safety of the dogs is the main point.

I am very pleased with the AKC kennel that I purchased at tractor supply.

I purchased an extra door pannel and have 2 5 X 5's set up for the pups currently under the porch. I also purchased a 5 X 10 mat there for a flat bed truck and it is working fabulous.

I called around looking at prices. In my area anyway, Tractor Supply has the cheapest kits and seperate panels.

By far, these kennels are the best. NO chain link. Welded wire.
Dogs cannot chew out of the kennel.
Tehre are 5 different "series". For a GSD, I would go with Ultra, Gold or Platinum.
For the very serious dog that needs MAX. security enclosure, Platinum series.
From the wire to the door latches, these will blow your mind. I have 24 of these in different configurations.

Amanda,
I've had the same problems with my platinum series option plus kennels. A friend of mine got the next series down, same problem with rusting. Mine started at about 6 months after getting them. had them 2 or 3 yrs now and I'm just waiting for the rust to break the kennel.

What about spraying them with rustolium paint? Anybody think that would help?

by Jamille on 29 August 2007 - 04:08
4pack funny you mention that.
One of my clients mentioned , I should use that, just today.
He recommended, I take a wire brush and scrub all of the rust I can off, then double coat with Rustoleum. I will have to do this , if I hope to have my "Expensive" kennels last longer. ARRRRRRGGGGGGG !!!
Angela, I am with you. There is nothing worse , than going that extra mile to buy the good stuff, and Damn if it isn't rusting away.
Gee, wiz , Pa. Thank goodness, I grow money on my trees out back !? LOL !!

"had them 2 or 3 yrs now and I'm just waiting for the rust to break the kennel."
the beauty of these kennels is that it they do break, they can be re-welded and are good as new.
we've had the father in law out her a couple of times to weld worked perfectly. they are just as
strong as ever.
