Buko is a very willing dog. In fact he is a bit much in all catagories.

Just like anything else, I started really small with just having him look at me, then made him look at me while I moved a treat around, then a toy, ect ect.

I think that I could have worked more on focus, but I needed to get a lot done in a short time.

Focus is one of those things that if you have 5 minutes of undistracted focus, you have 15-30 seconds with a decoy around.

Hope that helps you out, just remember, get really carried away in the beginning. : )

flipfinish, great presentation of the GSD. Can I link this video? I think it speaks louder than words. Thanks.

Thanks pete!

BabyEagle,

Please use this link for anything you like. Thank you. Baron is a good mix of family dog, family protector, and family friend. That little guy he knocked down is now 3 and a half and hooks the leash to Baron and walks him arond the house. Baron looks at me like "dad, save me" but to his credit he obliges my son to walk around. He also "babysits" my daughter in her room, it is sooo funny. If you put my daughter in her room alone and close the baby gate she cries, if you put Baron in there with her she loves it! My wife does it when she needs to cook, clean, or get laundry done, he just lays down and keeps an eye on her.

I am sure everyone has had, or does have, that one special GSD that is once in a lifetime. Baron is ours, we could breed 500 puppies and not get another one like him. Anyways, as you all do, I guess I just like to brag about my "couch potato".

Thanks for the comments!

Brittany and Jeff,

WOW! That is what I call concentration

Concentration is the first thing you teach your pup at 8 weeks old , start by putting threats in your mouth  and eye contact , never giving treat until they look straight into your face....then stay in the sit longer ,longer longer longer...work on that for three months, and the platz and always , always look at you, never letting look at anything else...move treat , make a noise , put treat to dog and back up to eye and keep interest till he starts to move, then reward before break sitz....Never start other commands until you get full focus on you , the other commands and tricks all come last.....full concentration at all times,,,like a statue....of course you have to have a dog with some prey and food drive....dont feed for a day and he'll be interested in that liverwourst in your hand...Ain't tHAT RIGHT dawg??????

I don't have a vidieo of anything but   RAIN IN Texas   SO i'LL ENJOY ALL OF EVERYONE HERES VIDEOS.

Yellow

Is there actually a Peter Johnson?  No mother would name her child that!  What is his web address?

by Blitzen on 31 July 2007 - 20:07

Don, I went to school with a girl named Anita Dick. Don't ever give parents credit for thinking too much when they name their offspring.

You're right. That just reminded me of a kid named, Rusty Anis, in junior high.
