This is a legitimate post and I think we have all had words with the idiots out there that think it's okay to do this. The downside is it's fodder for the animal rights activists on this site and elsewhere. We can only do so much to try educating people. You will have to make the final and often times difficult decision. Do you continue a friendship with a person that is so willing to breed mutts because they like the color, or do you distance yourself from somebody so willing to not do the right thing. I have a tendency to try very hard to explain why they should not and if that doesn't work I distance myself from them so I am not accused of guilt by association. I have also declined to reserve a pup from our litter for a person that had recently bought a white shepherd pup and wanted to breed. shudder..... You have a tough situation here, I wish you the best.

Yes, one came from the pound. I don't know which one. The other was found in the desert. They are both definately intact. I don't know why. I just know it is unmistakeable that they are. Very ignorant peiople. I think I wouldn't be able to talk to anyone if I avoided them all. It seems like every person I've come across since we moved here is like this. I have met, maybe, three that would strongly disagree with it. Most just shrug.
Maybe I should learn to shrug.

I was going to post the same question untill I got to your post. I also thought that all dogs leaving the pound were to be fixed.
When you talk about walking through the desert, all I can think about is the Griswald's cousin Eddy. The redneck cousin in the National Lampoon's vacation series. Especially trying to make money off of a couple mutts. I love it in the Christmas Vacation movie when he is emptying his RV into the sewer and he says to the neighbors, "Merry Christmas, shiter's full".

I know there are a lot of people who rescue dogs here. Particularly from the border towns and they sort of filter the overflow from the southern areas up the line when there is an overflow. Sort of like a doggie underground railroad. Most of these are, as I understand it, just people who do it on their own. Maybe this is what she means by a pound. In hindsight she may have said he was a rescue and I understood it to mean pound. I don't think I want to bring it up again with her. Because that will open the same conversation.
And to clarify on my previous post "Yes, one came from the pound. I don't know which one." I meant don't know which pound the dog came from not I don't know which dog it was. It was the woman's pit/something mix. The man's looked like a rottie/something short dog mix. Maybe if these two dogs weren't so cute and sweet it would help matters.
I think I remember that movie. Is that the one where they tied a dead person to their hood? Maybe I'm thinking of another.
