has anyone ever heard of a Tamaskan, it think they are just beautiful.

not sure that link works, it's a picture of Lou, who was a winner in the Tamaskan show in 2007.  Very feral looking!

Kind of interesting how varried the responses are.  I have border collies as well as GSDs.

I should clarify.. there are LOTS of other dogs I like but have trouble when there is room for another not filling it with a GSD!!! Used to do agility and there are lotsof really cool dogs out there!!

I rescued a pit type, maybe staffy bull kind of little girl a couple years a go and had I not found a home for her, she would have stayed.. she was the most lovable dog, absolutely uncanny with children.. she was very active and wiggly (almost named her Shakira because her hips would swing all around) but she would get this calm expression and be very still when kids were around.. she would just stand by them....She is with a young family who has kids and they love her to death. BTW, I named her Millie.. short for milllion dollar baby, she eneded up being quite an investment but with her temperament, there was no question.. she was just too wonderful. Broken leg and all, she was always sweet!!

When I get too old to physically handle a GSD, I'll probably get a Papillon.. friends have one and he is awesome!! sure thinks he is big....

It's hard to believe but yes there are other breeds of dogs besides the German Shepherd

I'll probably never own another breed, but if I did it would be a Rottie.  I used to like Dobies but it seems o'natural is the trend lately, I don't like it... without being cropped and docked they look like hounds, they totally lose their nobility IMO.  I also like Aussies too.

Definitely a Belgian Malinois.  We just got our first Mali pup last week, Ripley ot Vitosha, a Turcodos daughter, and she is amazing.  I honestly believe that little bitch is going to kick my GSD's butt on the SchH field when she grows up.  I've never seen such potential in an 8-week puppy.

My mom has had 2 English Springers in a row. One of them was a retired champion brood bitch, and she was an awesome dog! I love 'em, and would love to have one, but the health problems they've had make me leery. Both Josh and Josie went pretty much stone deaf in their senior years, and though Josh is from field spaniel lines, he's got epilepsy, mild  hip dysplasia in one hip, and dislocated a cruciate ligament when he was a pup. Stll, I love their looks!

If I had to get a yap...er...lap dog, due to my age/infirmity/lack of running space for a big one, no question about it, I'd get a yorkie.

My best friend's brother in law is visiting from Italy right now. He used to own a European wolf, and trained it for SAR. The pictures I've seen of it look very, very much like a GSD. It did very well, and had a number of successful finds, though he was the only one who could handle it. (He still has all his official government identity cards for SAR, and proudly showed them to me.) Okay, I'm fantasizing here, (and I know the danger of working with wolves, I've heard all the negatives about them) but it would be SO cool to see if a Canadian timber wolf could do this, too!

How's that for exotic??

Ceph

probably a mutt....I swear our Shep mix could do it all if he put his mind too it...He spends his time sniffing everything, he has great drive, agile as all get, loves to tug, and just wants to play - but he can chill and be a couch dog if thats the mood you are in.

If I had to pick breeds :

Working - Dutch Shepherd

Companion - Corgi or Husky  (lots of personality)

Hound - Irish Wolfhound

Toy - Pap

but in reality I just want them all, dogs are awsome.
