Has anyone started a petition on this?
I informed Lew Bunch, GSDCA President, of the murder of this dog.

Put this story all over MySpace or a video on You Tube, asking people to send emails and letters to this Police Department.
MySpace has over 1 billion users...that's alot of potential emails.
Any thought to involving The Humane Society or PETA on this one?

I thought the changeover was going to take a few days. Boy..was that fast.
To see all these heartfelt letters is comforting, and I'm sure the family of Max is very appreciative of the support. This story is so upsetting. Before I go to sleep each night, my youngest male, Joe, lays his head under my chin and rests his head. He won't settle down until he thinks I'm asleep. He wakes me up each morning the same way.....gently laying his head on my neck, nudging me awake. This morning, as I woke, a horrible picture came to mind of that lunatic shooting away the jaw of that poor dog...........Joe's jaw was touching my face.
I tell ya...I'd lose it completely if this was my dog. All this officer had to do was walk away.....just walk away. Daily we talk about evaluating the temperaments of our dogs and judge them acceptable only when their nerves are stable and they exhibit a proper clear-headedness. You have to wonder if some police departments lack the diligence to be as selective when they recruit as we are in just selecting our pets.

LMH,
You are so correct. When I joined the Police Academy in 1990, they did a psych exam on us to determine your suitability for the job...you know, not some wacko who wanted to go around shooting people (or dogs). I wonder if they still do these...and if so, they should routinely retest their officers.
You're right in that we test and test and test our dogs again, trying to ensure stability in nerve and termperament. I think that should be a prerequisite to anyone holding such a position of trust and of course, a weapon.
So glad to see so much support. I have a very good feeling that it's only just begun.

Dear Sheriff,
Please send an employment application to these naive people and put them in a squad car and tell them to go arrest people on warrants who don't wanna go to jail. They know all there is to know about it. They've seen every episode of Law and Order ever filmed.
Thanks...

First of all THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH !!!!!
I want to let you all know that I have been in touch with the owner of the dog Sharon, She is a wonderful lady and has a strength beyond my wildest imagination, She is doing very well and the support shown to her by all of us across the country has only given her more strength. She reports her husband has not coped near as well and continues to suffer greatly, not that she is not suffering but she knows she must stay strong. Please continue to show this family the support they need to fight for justice.
I do not intend to let up, I know that HSUS has been contacted, I know that several other Animal Protection Agency's have also been contacted, I think someone contacted a major TV Show, and someone contacted the president of the GSDCA, You have all shown a great deal of support and caring and that is what will make the difference.
THANK YOU ALL and keep up the great work, and don't let up !!!! YOUR AWESOME
