Quote: Jeff, Made dogs do a B&H???????? The dog you showed bark and looks for his handler not keeping an eye on the decoy??? That's better??? The way I train the blind is a dangerous place for the dog. If he looses focus the helper makes him pay for it. The helpers a "bad guy". Why would you ever want your dog to take his eye off the bad guy? At least without you telling him? Never.
I am not sure how long you have been training. The hold and bark is a "made" exercise. Why would I want my dog to take his eyes off the decoy ? WHat would I care ? I want the dog to bark. I want the dog to bite the guy when he tries to escape. I don't need all the silly theatrics that people go through in Sch and call real.
Here is a video for you. Maybe you have seen it before.

Quote: lol jeff is a joke. he likes attention because he still lives at his mommy's house and is a fat ugly slob
Since I have never read anything that you have written that has any real worth, how about a video of your training ? You don't really want to be the guy that the fat ugly slob who is a joke and lives at his mom's house punked out with better training videos now do you ?

Jeff:
Are you either of the individuals in the video?. Excuse me for being stupid but what is the reason for the barking at a object in the blind? And when the black dog is circling the blind time and time again he never looks in it?
Some of the obedience looks nice but Isn,t the whole purpose of the training is focus on the helper not the sleeve or what ever object is present other then the man?
I like my dogs actually searching the blinds and focusing on the helper him self in the blind not automation of a bark? could you explain to me...

Jeff you statements of "THIS IS A MADE EXERCISE OR THAT IS A MADE EXERCISE" are getting old. A dog genetically knows how to track, bark and bite. Everything else we make it do IS a MADE EXERCISE.
Yes JEFF I think everyone has seen that video. You can train any behavior in prey.... to think that every dog that does a B&H is trained like that would be detrimental to your well being. I've seen your training "the gaurd the object " video. Where you are teaching it with a ball and your dogs barking at you....(MADE EXERCISE)
Quote: "Why would I want my dog to take his eyes off the decoy ? What would I care ? I want the dog to bark." So Jeff then I take it you are into just sport training your dog? My dogs won't take their eyes off the helper in the blind because they've learned that if they do the bad guy will make them pay for it. They've also learned that they can control that bad guy with their bark. If they bark hard enough maybe the helper will flinch enough to move and they can bite. If not then they can hold the helper there till I show up and they will get to bite him soon enough.

No Bob that's not Jeff. He's using that video of Bart's training methods as some sort of proof that the B&H is just a prey exercise. What he fails to realize (amongst other things) is that not every dog is trained that way.

Here's a video of Jeff's "MADE EXERCISE" if this isn't prey training I don't know what is.

Quote : So Jeff then I take it you are into just sport training your dog?
Yes. I do not need a dog for protection.
Quote: but Isn,t the whole purpose of the training is focus on the helper not the sleeve or what ever object is present other then the man?
Do you get more points for that ?

So, how is what you are doing any different ? Are you not shaping a behavior that isn't there ? That is what I am saying. If the dog was really serious, would you need to "make him pay" in the bark and hold ?
I am not "making" a dog, I am training a dog. If I was "making" a dog, I would be rewarding for giving me the stink eye, for snarling showing teeth, things like that. I am rewarding for going to the object. See the difference ? Do you know what I mean when I say "made" ??
How many times does a dog go to the blind before he realizes that the helper is not going to do anything??
Think about that. If you haven't trialed your dog, and you are always wacking him, because he is not your version of serious, then what is the dog really ? That is what you see in that video of Esko's Great Grandfather. I have no idea of how many times he competed at ring three. But what you are seeing is what the dog really is, and not some "invented" version through helper manipulation. Also, if the dog is supposed to be "serious" and you wack him in the blind for not looking, and he doesn't go after the helper, is he serious at all ??
I am not saying change your training, or that you even have to agree with me, but if you have to teach all these things, well fine. I am not going to bother unless there is a point loss. If you ask me if my dog is "real" I will tell you he is a sport dog. Esko will bite you and finds it funny. He has went after my buddy when I dropped the leash, trying to grab the jambierre. Is that real ? I have a hard enough time with Mondio as it is to start worrying about stuff like serious, when the dog is obviously not. Kinda like a dog that has to be "reminded" to be serious.

Prey training is good. Does a dog that is not afraid of you able to go into defence ? Would you keep pressuring a dog that did not go into defense ??
Prey training is good. If the dog is not afraid, then he is not in defence.
Does a dog bite hurt worse if the dog is in defense ? Why would a dog that was frightened bite harder than a dog that is not afraid ?
Is this dog biting in defense ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKdQbK8D_Vw LOL
