Bet you that's your last post or any other member who comments again about SL v WL. This is not the intention of this thread, and it's sooooo old now, heard it all before no need for more. Any further comments/insults on which is better or worse will be deleted...end of. Thank you, now we can get back to the discussion in hand??

i think a good start to improving the breed would be getting the tests for breed worthiness doing what they are designed and meant for, just get get breed surveys and working titles on track will be a big gain in improvement with no major changes to anything.
people suggesting big changes are nearly always wrong and just self-promotional.

"Reading the PDB I have noted many comments about the decline of the German Shepherd character they the fact that it has affected the willingness to work. Some posters are saying that the characters have become softer. These comments appear to relate mainly to the showline dogs whose breeders produce the highest percentage of dogs each year.
In my opinion the problem is not just an inherited cause. Unfortunately, too many breeders have too many dogs and do not build up strong enough bonds with their dogs. There just is not enough time in the day. Working line breeders may have some problems but the bonds between them and their dogs is much stronger probably because they tend to have fewer dogs which in turn means that their dogs are kept active and work to a discipline. Too many show dogs are basically untrained other than to run around the show ring. Not many are worked to a serious discipline where ....."
With all due respect, it appears the original post sets up the vs debate. But I will refrain from here on out from voicing my opinion on any topics like this in the future. Seems a shame that people looking for information will need to rely on the biased hype they read on breeder websites, not because I won't be posting, but because the discussion will remain buried.

As soon as breeders, judges, trainers, and helpers would stick to the current rules ( no cheating, no colored glasses on trials, shows, and breed surveys ) we wouldn´t need to discuss here.
But this means training, titling, showing = honest proof of breed worthiness - and at that point we are back on page1, last pragraph of Mac´s post, if I remember well.

" people suggesting big changes are nearly always wrong and just self-promotional.". You mean big changes like bringing in a different bred to "fix" problems?

Smartest comment, Joanro, of any on this or similar threads.
:)
Best to you,

"You mean big changes like bringing in a different bred to "fix" problems?"
seems to be working out fine for the KNPV.
