zdog,
they would turn our lives over to the government, who would in turn provide our every need, at a cost.
A cop in every kitchen, a chip in every child, a bee hive, an ant hill.

And still shit would happen.

But we would no longer be us.

This is so telling. Unbelievable.

"By a vote of 79-19, an amendment to the debt limit bill offered by Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) was rejected by the Senate. The Paul amendment would have prohibited the U.S. government from selling F-16 jet fighters, M1A1 tanks, and similar military weapons to the Egyptian government.

I don't believe any restriction on semi-automatic weapons will get through Congress.  Even limitations on magazine capacity will have a hard time getting through. However, in the unlikely event it does do so, I believe the SCOTUS will uphold the law.

The favorite Supreme Court justice of the right-wing, Justice Scalia, does not agree that there is an unlimited right to firearms under the Second Amendment.

Scalia, a strict interpreter of the Constitution, said there's an "important limitation" on the right to bear arms.

"We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of 'dangerous and unusual weapons'," Scalia wrote, in an opinion first cited by UPI over the weekend.

Scalia reiterated that sentiment in July of this year when he told Fox News Sunday that the Second Amendment leaves room for federal gun control legislation.

In the Heller opinion Scalia said:

"Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited," Scalia cautioned in his opinion. "From Blackstone through the 19th-century cases, commentators and courts routinely explained that the right was not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose. ... For example, the majority of the 19th-century courts to consider the question held that prohibitions on carrying concealed weapons were lawful under the Second Amendment or state analogues."

Attempts to control types of weapons and who can possess weapons appear to be constitutional, Scalia added.

The U.S. Supreme Court  is part of the problem with their interpretations and  being appointed.

Scalia based his opinion on conceal carry, that's a joke.

Some states who did not want concealed carry allowed open carry in public.

This weekends gun show I attended was different in that I saw no unlicensed gun owners holding tables as had been the case in past shows, promoters choice.
Jacked up prices was the biggest set back but there was plenty of merchandise on the tables.
A lot of confidence that this new attempt at banning will not get the support needed by a wide margin.

This show is held in a National Guard Armory by the way.

The only problem with the Constitution is allowing appointed judges to interpret it for us.

If there was ever a time that Americans needed their rights and to be armed it is now.
