Dawn G. Bonome

This sounds like The American Shepherd here in the States! I am going to a Dog Show tomorrow, with a friend of mine who owns an American German Shepherd, she is showing her male, and I have German Show lines. I have not been to a American Shepherd Show for a few years. The last time I went to one of these shows, the dogs had Collie heads, the males looked like females, they run on their hocks, and the temperaments were questionable, and all that is done is running around in a ring looking at the sidegait AND...the the same blood lines in most of the dogs. (Dallas bloodlines.) The American Shepherd is still called a German Shepherd without the courage and oomph to it.

Is this the same problem in England?

Pretty much, but there's not a huge amount of them!

I gotta tell you, I was always under the impression that the Alsation was a name conjured up after the second world war by the English because of the negative connotations associated with the name "German" Shepherd during and after those times. I must admit though that I can PLATZ when someone tells me what a beautiful Alsation I have; I go to great lengths to correct them.

And just one comment from my boy to all those that keep dissing us show lines:
DON'T HATE US 'COS WE'RE BEAUTIFUL!

LOL, Vanessa, In the UK, many people think that a German Shepherd is a long coat and an Alsatian is a normal coat... I also take time to give people the whole story.

Well Dawn my American import is a Dallas son and he certainly does not have hocks that touch the ground when he walks and he has a head to die for and his temperment is second to none.
Go to the stud dog adds you will find him there .

Linedancer 13,

I wish you all the best with The American Shepherd.... they bred the heck out of him and his bloodlines are everywhere in the American Shepherd bloodlines! I hope that is not the case in the UK.

I prefer the German Showlines myself.

Linedance 13, Looked at you're import on the stud dog adds! How long has he been in the U.K. Has he been used, and shown in the U.K. Will he be shown at the British Sieger show, I noticed his stud fee on the stud advert £800.00. is that correct or a mistake, It's just that you can use any of the V.A. dogs in Germany for less than that. Its no mistake Patrick she was charging £700 at one time just look on all the stud dog sites lol

Dawn he has been used here extensively he even has grsons and grdaughter coming upto the age of 2yrs, all to unscored bitches, the ones I can find anyhow, he was eye tested in June 2005 so been over in the UK a fair few years no hip or elbow scores yet recorded in the BRS she recons they have been done and awaiting the results, which is a bit late considering the amount of progeny and grprogeny about.
And they have the cheek to state the WG line breeding are ruining the breed.
