Carlin,
my son has a Rossi Ranch Hand in .44 mag. it will wear your hand out, but cheap as they are Rossi makes a decent gun, no problems with it so far.
I'm a Marlin fan when it comes to lever actions though.

.22-250 is crazy fast and flat, but I think I like a little more pop, hoping not to have to track so far. If you've ever taken 150lbs.+, it can get heavy quick, especially through thick brush. I like the 06, because I can use 150gr for white tail, but all the way up to 220gr round nose for just about anything else on the continent.

Carlin,
the .30-06 has always been the most versatile caliber because of the variety of loads for sure, I became devoted to the .308 because of it's consistency and accuracy though.
All of the smaller fast calibers have issues with deflection of one kind or another.
Now a days it's the .338 Lapua that seems to catch everyone's attention.

Carlin,
my son has a Henry similar to that in a .22, it's pretty but the finish is a coating and the action does get a bit strange at times.
Plus you can't take it apart like you can a Marlin.
Still they are pretty, really nice stock on the one my son has.

I think over 30 is too aged for USDA graded prime LoL..

by Two Moons on 19 September 2013 - 15:09
Agreed,
but then again by that age they usually have gotten past the games and know how to dance much better....:)
What a guy goes through in his mid 40's seems to hit women in their mid 30's, it's a crazy time for both.

Didn't know that about the Henry; disappointing. For the price, I expect it to sit pretty, as well as making the best coffee I've ever tasted. Favorite growing up was a Marlin camp 9mm. Maybe I head in that direction instead. .308's groupings are indeed a tad more consistent than the 06.
