This is insane. Looks like another 6 inches coming my way, starting tomorrow a.m. Unbelievable! And then it will be 50 degrees by the weekend. The melting period is going to be rough.

Same thing coming here bee, but a bit less snow. The thawing is killing me, my front window leaked last week from the thaw. I have an ice dam in my gutter, so when it melts, it pours down the front and right in the window. It's not nearly as bad at the 10 gallons I used to get during a rain storm, but it's still frustrating. I had 7 months for the inside of the wall to dry out and now I have to start all over again, GRRRR! I want spring, right now!

Travels: My gutters are totally frozen up! I am a bit worried about certain parts of my roof. There are "old" parts and "new" parts to my house. I really should have had a new roof done before this winter season. I noticed a crack underneath the window in the dry wall of the bedroom (old part)... and that can not be a good sign, no matter what!
I noticed my DH has not mentioned it, but it is like the Crack into the Universe from one of those Dr. Who shows....! A bit worrisome. I think I am starting to worry about everything, lately! LOL

Just one crack? LOL, I have lots. I was planning on taking that wall down to assess the damage, repair what needs it and close it back up, perhaps with a window seat
. Anyway, now I'll have to take it down and let it dry before any repairs are done, just more work. On the bright side, at least it's in the same place and I don't have a second fix to contend with. New gutter system is on the top of the list, that comes first!

Bee & Travels I'm about to join you in tommorows snowfall. We are predicted to get around the same...
Ruger: I agree with you about the fluids, however we are dealing with one picky eater, stubborn Canadian. When I made the chicken soup Sat. she refused to eat it. Her daughter said the whole family had been trying for hours to get her to eat something. I got a bowl of soup walked over looked her right in the eyes and said I spent a couple hours making this soup, you are either going to eat this or your going to wear it. And if you end up wearing it, you'll be wearing it at the hospital because if you don't eat that's where I'm taking you. That's when she began eating.
Yesterday I made some baked Cod Fish and she ate it. Today she said she had more soup and she is going to have fish again tonight. I was busy as hell today but I talked to her a few minutes ago and she said she finally felt a little better today. I'm glad she feels better because between snow removal and taking care of her I'm whipped. But MORE snow is coming. LOL

Travels, my particular Crack into the Universe, actually runs Up/Down, as opposed to a horizontal tendancy. It does seem to be active, and it has tributary cracks. This is easy to see, because the darker value of the paint makes the white separation that is happening, painfully obvious, to me, anyway. The old stone foundation goes back to 1860, and the mortar is totally crumbled. Other siesmic disturbances in the past, do also come to my mind.
It grows, this Crack. I am very leery of it.

ML... I am so glad to hear your good cooking is helping your wife get better. And yes, more snow coming! I hope you get some rest tonight, sounds like you will be needing it!

I know my cracks aren't structurally a problem, though when I open the wall, I have to assess water damage to the ends of the joists. My walls are plaster, so whatever I do, wood or drywall, it will be the entire wall. That's why I'm thinking about a window seat, my window is 8' wide, with 6' of open wall all the way to the stair landing. I could take it all the way across and put some nice cushions along the entire wall, it'd make a cozy nook. Lots of work, but nothing I can't do myself :)
I like your story about getting your wife to eat the soup ML, LOL. Glad she's feeling somewhat better, keep up the good work!
