pod, Sue is a Ch judge and I doubt she'd be rude enough to ask such a question of you... in the breed you award tickets in.   What breed is it btw?

by Nettagirl on 24 January 2009 - 00:01

Not getting involved

Nettagirl, I think maybe it would be better for all if we did split... you may be right, it may not happen, personally, I'd rather get rid of the KC.  The Alsatianists can stay with the KC an we'll go our own sweet way... everyone's happy!

I don't understand why you're angry about it.

I have been reading and assimliating all points of view, but having just read that last tirade of complete nonsense I have to say we have no room for anything other than a German Shepherd Dog as per the correct German standard, Alsationists please just go your own way and do your own thing, your type of dog does not compare with the true Shepherd, as the pictures in this week's Our Dogs reflects. I was like Sue, hoping that a split was not the way to go , but I believe that now it is the only way, then we can all get on and do what we all enjoy, our dogs!!

Pod said "Zamp, his croup angle in this photo is ~39 degrees"
Pod - had you not meant your 39' comment to be taken seriously, it would have been hillarious, visions of  judges from now
on entering rings armed with rulers, set squares, triangles etc in order to measure the degree angle of a croup could,
under normal circumstances, have found me RAOTFLMHO at someone with such a wonderful , wild ,sense of humour,
sadly however I couldn't laugh because the biggest tragedy of all is that you weren't joking, were you? You really were being
serious, you really did print the photo of Zamp off the database, get out your ruler, set square, triangle and whatever other
instruments at your fingertips to attempt to assertain , from a photo, where start the lie of pin bones, tail set  and where
pelvis etc ends, then without access to the real body to assertain what or where any of these structural parts were situated
beneath his flesh and hair,  you actually measured an angle, from the photo. Unbelievable, you must have the most
amazing xray vision, for  not only have you claimed to see his bone structure, you have claimed to see it through the flat
dimentional image of a photograph. Unlike mere mortals such as Mr Terry Hannan and myself,  to name but two (not to
mention all the  International SV judges) who have not only seen the dog close up in the flesh but have actually touched
him and felt the  bone structure for ourselves to get a more precise indication of where his bones are located and the
length and angle of them.

With people of such pronounced experience as you portray yourself to have, there is absolutely no shortage of , nor need
for any more clowns in this breed.

Thanks Missbeeb, you were certainly correct as to the one question I would never think of asking him. As for why the anger
displayed by Nettagirl, methinks perhaps I hit a raw nerve with my 'Middle of the Road' judges comment re Zamp, many
were there watching, admiring and drooling over him at Crufts, lest anyone forgets he may not have won the group under
Thorn-Andrews but he did get into the last 6 and the BBC commentators were all over him. Jealousy and Envy makes for
very bad losers. They were afraid, very afraid and I suggest still are.

I thank all contributers to this thread. My conclusion.

The GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG must split with the ALSATIAN - absolutely, without any shred of doubt.

My view on this has been totally confirmed.

by patrick on 24 January 2009 - 10:01

Nettagirl, I'm pleased someone has come on this thread from the so called other side, and said how they feel, you are entitled to you're view and opinion like the rest. The sad thing is we both have the same breed standard, but view the dogs differently. I'm not asking anyone to change their opinion, because they wont! It's like politics and religion, lets learn to disagree  without starting a war! I have said on this thread the K.C. will not want to split the breed, and as you said, they wont agree to a split, so we are wasteing our time! If the german shepherd side declare they want a split, the K.C. wont have a say. They will leave the K.C. and set up a seperate system probably tied into the wusv. I'm sure Nettagirl you cant wait. So Nettagirl, It would be in your and the Alsatianists best interest to encourage the German shepherd lot to split and support them! You know it makes sense! Bill Owen.

Bill, nicely and correctly put, i fully agree. liz

by linedancer 13 on 24 January 2009 - 20:01

Yes i agree with nettagirl it's you and your kind that has destroyed  our breed. The original german shepherd  from Germany had a straight topline   and what have you lot done over the years  completely changed  it so it looks like a Hyena .
Our breed is a trotting dog  not one that drags its self and its handler round the ring.
Its true so many societies will not put our breed on because  of the trouble that is caused be Double handling,up setting other exibitors in other breeds and we Alsatianist's get tarred with the same brush and we are sick and tired of it.
As for the spread in Our Dog's for the UK Club you say they are nothing like the True German Shepherd that's your  opinion which you are entitled too.
So just get off your soap box and go your own way.
Neither side will ever agree which is very sad for the breed  so you will have to sort yourselves out and learn to tow the line.

Whos destroying the breed?
I think that is a bit strong from someone who doesnt hip or elbow score, isnt it what do you have 1 male hip scored 1 other male eye tested?
A bit like 'the pot calling the kettle black' isnt it?
