Penny,

Nice to hear some about ya!  Also nice to hear 60 isn't so bad.  (We all have our reservations about the next decade's years.)  I'm in the 43 and female club and must admit, currently I'm fine but, "50" scares me.  I guess by then, 60 may not seem so bad.

I too have a young "bloke" of my own.  I have to work hard on keeping the youthful me going but, it's not so bad with a 3 yr old around...he keeps us all young running after him!

You get a "fuel allowance" with your pension?  Or, did I read this incorrectly?

And, a BIG Congratulations on your engagement and impending wedding!

Thanks for the congrats,

ha ha - dont get excited and all rush over, its not a FUEL allowance as in cars etc., - its  a winter warming of the house fuel type allowance, - approx £100 per person.   Now when you read around this thread, which i think is brilliantly entertaining, we have gone from GSD`s to Big Birds, to Winter Fuel allowance in the UK !

Lets have more - I find it fascinating as the love of the German Shepherd be it exhibiting or working,is a great leveller for all walks of life, and reading above, I realise that we must all have a certain "type" imagined from the past written comments etc.   Isnt it lovely to hear from 13 year old on here - thats what we need, and these "anonymous" folk also need to remember that such young enthusiasts are also here -  lets keep this up, and where are the UK folk???    Mo

You're right Mo.  We're covering pretty much all bases in this thread.

I too love that we have gsd fanciers as young as 13 (there are possibly younger) on board.  Nice to see the "bug" bite us of all ages.  Starting that young can only help her in the future.

And, I'll still take the house type fuel allowance, too!

If you get excited about a fuel allowance, wait until you reach 75 and then the television license is FREE!!

Don't know if you have to pay for one in the USA, its worth around £145 here, so not a bad freebie, only you don't want to rush to get one!

You are only as young as the man you are feeling!

Mine is only 4 years younger than me, beats the last one who was 7 years older though.

Whats TV???   Is it that box that sits up the corner, gets dusted (once a year or so) and I promise to watch every now and again but never do?  Yes, you are right, and I still pay a flippin licence. !

Hey Guys & Gals! I had my surgery, and after 5 days my head has finally stopped spinning!! I had a scalene nerve block in my right shoulder and the numbing agent leaked down and paralized my diaphragm, which is a fairly common complication, but I was short of breath, nauseous, and dizzy for days! And of course the part that was supposed to numb the shoulder wore off almost immediately! I've had other surgeries, but this rotator cuff thing is surely the most painful one I've ever had! Sporting a very annoying sling, which I must keep on for the next 6 weeks, which means that I will walk down the aisle with the damn thing! Picking out wedding cake flavors..the top candidates are Devil's food (I'm a verified chocaholic!) or..Bourbon Pecan (ummmmmm!)...& my daughter wants Apple Spice! Anyone care to vote on this?? I think all three ....in different layers.  Thanks Dawgs, and Silbersee for the kind thoughts...tell me where I should send the cupcakes!! LOL...keep this thread going, are there World records for things like this? Or just PDB records?  Also my dogs have just about given up on me...they keep twisting their heads, looking at the sling, and whining, like they're saying,"Come on, mom! Let's play!" OK! Worn out the hand, can only type in bursts while the percocet is working! jackie osborne(soon to be Harris)

Percoset. Sigh. Would almost be worth breaking my back again just to get the percoset.

Hi, I am 28, have a daughter Emma, 5. I swear I will never have kids again. I lost four pregnancies, one was twins, so she is my sixth child and the only one alive. I had to have my cervix tied shut to keep her in and a c-section to get her out! She is a very emotional, challenging lovable and hateful, cute and spoiled little princess. My pride and joy. I have two gsds, Nenz (Nenz vom Klebinger SchoB) is 5, retired from showing in Germany due to hip dysplasia (he was free) and Spunky (Zippy vom Haus Miller) is 8 months, showline, but serving as my  Psychiatric Service Dog in Training. I live in Duluth, MN and this city is built on a hill, so I am training her for pulling. In harness going uphill on walks and hopefully soon pulling my bike and my daughter in a wagon as my beloved lab/gsd/husky Bandit did (she died January 2006, cancer). I chose GSDs because they seem  more obedient.  Also, I like a good guard dog. Had rotts and rott mixes long ago but they weren't as obedient or willing to work. Spunky also carries home groceries in her backpack! I have anxiety issues due to traumatic happenings while living on the street from age 16. Other reason I have dogs is bipolar manic depressive disorder. Bandit was my first service dog. I noticed after having her a year I wasn't having dramatic highs and lows. I quit carving my arms and credit her with saving my life by giving me someone else to think about than myself. The best things I ever did was having my daughter, currently donating to a little girl in the Phillippines, and introducing two people who founded Service Animal Support Services to each other. They are now recogized on some list of organization in Madison, WI. I also have three cats, ok two,one is my boyfriend's. Baby Ashes is gray and 7, Billy Boy is a brown, black, and tan tabby, 2 and his cat Queen Squeakers, 10, is a beautiful, longhair tuxedo black and white. I also have 9 rats and 5 hamsters, and 3 fish. No pets as a kid, making up for it now! I am not married but we have been together 7 years Thanksgiving. He pays the rent, does dishes, cooks, takes out garbage, cleans litterboxes, and watches our daughter so I can get away for quality time with my dogs! Right now I am at a friend's overnight and he agreed to give Nenz his medicine to take and put on his hot spots. Didn't think he'd do that but he did! I walk the dogs at least 2 miles a day and constantly receive compliments on how well-behaved they are. I just say it's cuz I had good dogs to begin with. Mega kudos to Spunky's breeder,  Steve MIller of vom Haus Miller German Shepherds in Spring Green, WI. Hope I didn't write too much or bore any of you. I like chatting on the website that has the Rainbow Bridge poem. I found it by searching pet loss grief support. I go on as ilovemygsdsnenzandspunky. Oh, and my name is Amanda T. Carlson, locally known as "that lady with the kid and two dogs".
