once again I see how it is never productive to mention anyone by name or kennel and wish I had just kept my fingers off the keyboard.
I don't know you either, I do find your insights/experience very interesting, but I think it's bull shit that anything that comes up contrary to your opinion requires an explanation. and I'm the last one qualified to give an opinion on anyone's program unless it's maybe a few Am. S/L.

Rick, no insidious meaning behind my question.
i did look his website and noticed that kennel run with both types, show and eastern dogs.
i heard about attempts by breeders to utilize DDR dogs right after reunification of Germany, to improve health and temperament of show breeding of former W.Germany.
that didn't turn out well and eventually such experiment was abandoned. it was 25~30 years ago.
that's why i got curious about this breeder. typically better to learn on someone else mistakes what he obviously didn't.

it wasn't that long I had no idea. and every thread does not have to turn into the down trend of the GSD. everyone is not born with complete and total knowledge of the GSD.
sometimes it's enough to be as helpful as possible. most intelligent people who care and stick with the GSD will figure it out.
and just IMOO, the OP made an excellent choice in not only his dog, but in choosing
a very good breeder in the U.S.

Now you wonder why they chose the dogs they did, how about we put this shoe on other foot , your foot, and you tell us bout the dogs you have, what can we gather about these dogs listed to you,

for me success in breeding means consistency and predictability of matting outcomes.
why Geico is not among breeding stud dogs in that kennel, if he was result of successful matting?
what word "success" means for you?
i'm not and never was a breeder but have seen, worked and did own many dogs from a truly good non commercial breeding.
did i become expert? in regard of practical working GSDs - i'm. and that expertise was gained during many years of personal experience.
i never get involved in discussion about show breeding GSDs because never had interest to dogs, whose qualities is an everything what german shepherd breed shouldn't be but obviously can't stay quiet when i see that for some ppl the breed is not yet enough screwed and they continue to experiment toward worse.
b.t.w. what wrong have you found with last my dog Siegie, that you even provided link to :) ?
