I think if you truly need to see it for yourself, you should go an watch in person. Unfortunately, like some have said in other topics, any dog can be made to look decent in a video.

I agree 110% with workingdawg. I haven't been to a seiger show since 2003, but I find hard to believe that much has changed. I don't blame the helpers one bit, I'm sure they're doing the job they were asked to do. Even more important than watching the actual bitework is watching the practice the night before, in my opinion. I've certainly been able to make breeding/buying decisions based on what I see.

I am amazed at the amount of people who travel great distances with large expense, exhibit there dog and its very clear they have put very little or no effort in to the training. Some were ready and did well, most did not. Helper work was weak but I blame the owners not helpers.

it's pathetic!
that's why i switched to working lines. beautiful dogs BUT.....the are trained for a bullshit bite, and that makes them breedworthy??.it was 1 1/2 away from me and i figured i'd be real dissapointed in the bitework, so i didn't even bother. the dogs are gorgeous but...same game every year.

My dog was there. My dog did the "performance test" and I would HAVE LOVED to see the helpers put pressure on my dog and the other dogs that were there. However, that is NEVER going to happen!Sadly, dogs who run off the field after they out still get pronounced.
I agree with 99.9% of what was stated above. HOWEVER, there were dogs there that COULD work and do. There were working line dogs that looked great. There was a small handful of showline dogs you could see actually can work, do train, and aren't your typical german show line dogs. Those dogs would have looked even better had the helpers been ALLOWED to put the pressure on.

We all know that Sieger Show protection test is just the bare minimum to eliminate the really pathetic non working dogs. This said, I must agree that a more rigorous test would benefit the very good dogs that lack the opportunity to perform as well as bring greater credibility to the class. Best Wishes, Jonah

And if in fact the helper work was done like stated above it is a diservice to the show dogs that CAN do the work.
My Question is what is the purpose of the USA helper program if the helperwork is not done correctly even under the eye of USA Official's, Judges etc.
The organization kinda allows for gross contradiction of it's own helper program.
But then again it will take a USA official with integrity and some balls to change things and REQUIRE the helpers to perform the Attack out of the blind exactly as stated in the helper program.
I won't hold my breath.
