We were at a "seminar" given by Royal Canin thru our dog food distributor this past Wednesday eve.
They reassured us ALL at the meeting that NONE of the PRO lines and/or German Shepherd Breed, Lab Breed, Boxer Breed,..etc......is affected by this recall.
ONLY some of the Sensible Choice lines and a couple of Vet lines were recalled.
I personally will call the rep that was at the meeting and get as much info as possible.
This is so unfortunate...and tragic!!
I did double check the official site and it confirms what was mentioned at the meeting.

Until Country of Origin Labeling is mandated for all foods and food additives, there is no way to know what came from where. As it stands now, your bulk hamberger you buy in the rolls, for human consumption, can contain meat from multiple countries. Only shell fish is now labeled and at times you have to ask to see the label.
The livestock and ag producers have been pushing this for years. The big business packing and food processing companies don't want to. They don't want you to know. And now you are realizing why.

The Reuters story said ALL ROYAL CANIN PRODUCTS are being voluntarily being recalled...ALL, not just some but all...We all have been warned here so its up to use to do what needs to be done before its too late...Call, talk to whomever you feel the need to speak with but you did hear it here first...
Personally, I am finished with them forever and ever...AMEN...Funny how I just checked the web site and there is not a word about it but I know better...

Natrual Balance at one point stated ALL of their food products were safe and not on recall. They also promoted that their food is Zoo Safe. Well, they now have some of their products on recall. We are also approx 45 days into this issue. How many dogs/cats ate the food, how many owners are now paying vet bills for a sick animal or have shortened their life span. If we have been feeding our livestock this, this is never going to end............

Blitzen, They have either taken the web site down, or it is not correct. Can you check it please?

Reuters reported RC is only recalling the dry food containing rice protein concentrate. So GC for GSD Maxi is OK. I was in a panic because I feed all my animals RC.

I don't know about the rest of you, but when the company making the food I'm feeding issues a recall, my dog gets no more of it regardless if it's on their current recall list or not. I've spent hours sifting out Nature's Balance Potato and Duck from the EVO it was mixed with. It went back into the orignal bag and will be returned to the place of purchase if it gets recalled.
I only have one dog and my heart goes out to those of you who are feeding multiple dogs during this horrible fiasco. I didn't want to throw away 26 lbs of EVO because I stupidly mixed in 10 lbs of the Nature's Balance, so my husband made me a sieve by drilling holes in a metal piepan just big enough for the EVO to fall through but too small for the Nature's Balance. It takes forever to do it. I'd be going nuts if I had a kennel of dogs as I once had. Sorry that so many of you are going through this stress.

That statement on the RC site is awful and unclear on http://www.royalcanin.us/.
It posts a list of brands affected without a clear heading, and then below it states:
"ALL PRODUCTS WITH AN EXPIRATION DATE OF APRIL 19TH, 2008 ARE MADE WITHOUT CHINESE SOURCED VEGETABLE PROTEINS AND ARE SAFE."
So you have to wonder, it is the unheaded list above or ALL. I think that is very poor writing and well... just pitiful. It doesnt take a genius to compose a clear comunication. I feel like this is double-speak on the part of RC.
I feed my pup a BARF raw diet and have since I got him, but his breeder fed some of the unlisted brands of RC. I am worried and a getting steamed.

I don't understand why you people would feed the RC 24 it contains soy and SOY isn't good for dogs.
There are much better foods on the market. Look at Innova and Canidae...Both companies have gone beyond the others and state they don't feed Chinese grains of any kind.
But the RC for GSD's is NOT a good food in my opinion and dog usually end up not liking it in the end.
Read the labels people just because the food bag has your breed on it doesn't make it good food.
