humping the air /helper during bitework training - Page 2

Here is a quick video to demonstrate

heidii, seems like manifestation of excitement.
wrong - in video she got her prize, bite tug, thus there association for her - she did right and got what she want.
i guess best way to start is to discourage such behaviour by immediately stopping bite work and remove tug from her mouth.
you should do this, not helper.
do not punish physically but speak to her during this  in frustrated voice. let her feel, you're not happy about her.
also one more thing to try, do not keep her for too long, before the bite allowed and do note how she does.

I have seen hundreds of dogs during foundation training, but I have never seen this before.
I really had to smile, but that's no help...

Does she show this behavior in "fight" only, or does she show it with tug on ground, too?
Excitement, maybe combined with some insecureness, transformed into sexual stimulation, and the attempt to dominate? Kind of weird.
I'd try to work without any prey item right now, no bites, just the helper and the dog for one or two months.
The helper running away the final reward - but honestly - no experience, no real clue 😎

Susie - you got what I was hinting at - dominance display? That is why I asked if dog does this when playing tug with handler or just decoy.

How old? I have seen this in young dogs, I would try more movement and if mature enough more pressure and civil work from the helper.

Ok I see 6 months. If I was the helper I would use lots of movement and pay attention to the dog. Also I would try her on tables of different heights.

Prob good advice paul apply more pressure so she will take bitework more serios no time to take for air humping leave that in the bedroom

 

More pressure with only six months old .....Not a god idea at this age IMO
 

 

That's what I thought, too.

6 months old female- Hormones driving her crazy for sure right now, and she somehow misunderstood 😎.
Because of all that I'd skip the bites- let her hunt the helper for a while...
This will build confidence and drives.

Yep Susie give that dog a break so much more than bitework

6 months old the dog is just (finished) teething why doing bitework ?

I don,t understand this even.............after teething I wait 3 months  at least..
