The last time I imported a puppy, customs official said that I was required to keep the pup confined on my property to 6 months of age.
Puppy was imported from a rabies free country.

I just emailed the CDC about importing Bosco last year, and it was approved. If the puppy is coming from a rabies free country, they don't care. Just send them an email and ask questions. Email customs, APHIS, and CDC.

I just imported a puppy to US from Belgium (rabies free country) on 5/30/17. I didn't have to deal with customs myself since my breeder hired a broker for both ends to handle everything, but never once was I asked or talked to about quarantine. I just showed up at United Petsafe, paid their fee, and walked away with my puppy. she is now 9 weeks old, no rabies. I did read in my research though that technically I am supposed to quarantine her until 30 days past her rabies vaccination. hope this helps
